Wild's Jason Pominville: Poor start continues

Pominville had just one shot on goal and extended his streak of failing to score a goal to 12 games in Thursday's loss to Nashville. Pominville is averaging just 2.4 shots per game compared to 3.1 last season as he's struggled on the offensive end. Pominville had struggled even with Zach Parise on his line, and now Parise is likely out a few games or more with an injury.

    • Wild's Pominville Back At Practice

News: Jason Pominville (illness) returned to practice Thursday, Rachel Blount of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Jason Pominville skipped Wednesday's team session after feeling under the weather, but it looks like the day off was all he needed to nurse himself back to a reasonable level of health. He shouldn't be considered at risk of missing Friday's second-round series opener against the Blackhawks.
    • Wild's Pominville Under The Weather

News: Jason Pominville (illness) did not practice Wednesday, Chad Graff of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: With Jason Pominville ailing, Jordan Schroeder worked on a line with Zach Parise and Mikael Granlund on Wednesday, but at this stage, we'd be surprised if Pominville's status for Friday's game against Chicago will be impacted by his illness.
    • Wild's Pominville Records Two Points In Win

News: Jason Pominville tallied a goal, an assist, and a plus-3 rating in Monday's Game 3 win over the Blues.
Analysis: It's now the second multi-point night for Jason Pominville in the playoffs, and this time he wasn't aided by an empty net on either of them. The winger had just two goals over the course of the final 15 regular season games but has now potted a pair this series as he figures to be one of the top offensive options for the Wild the rest of the way.
    • Two Cheap Points For Wild's Pominville

News: Jason Pominville picked up an assist and a power-play goal -- both on empty nets -- in the final 1:13 of Thursday's Game 1 win over the Blues.
Analysis: Well, that's about as cheaply as you can pick up two points and a plus-1 rating, but it works for those who own Jason Pominville in fantasy playoff formats. He should remain a key member of the Wild's offensive attack over the course of their postseason run.
    • Wild's Pominville Gets Two Helpers

News: Jason Pominville's two assists Saturday against Detroit give him three points in his last two outings.
Analysis: He has five points, including four assists, and a plus-five rating in his last seven games. Stick him in and ride this out. His overall production isn't near his usual, but there is room for recovery next season (at least a little).
    • Wild's Pominville Gets On Board In Loss

News: Jason Pominville deflected Matt Dumba's shot into the net for his 17th goal of the season in Thursday's loss to the Rangers.
Analysis: The goal was Jason Pominville's first since March 10, and just his third point during that 10-game stretch. Pominville's slowdown in production has come at an inconvenient time with the fantasy playoffs in full swing, making it advisable to keep him on the bench for now.
    • Wild's Pominville Snaps Skid With Assist

News: Jason Pominville set up Mikko Koivu's third-period power-play snipe in Saturday's 6-3 triumph over the Blues.
Analysis: The 32-year-old's greatest attribute in the fantasy realm has typically been his consistency as a point producer, but he's had some uncharacteristic lengthy droughts of late. After going without a point for five-game and seven-game stretches in February, Jason Pominville got back on track to begin March, only to fall into another four-game slump before picking up the assist Saturday. He's still been productive on the whole this season with 48 points in 72 games and could challenge for a new career best in shot attempts, but his more frequent absences from the scoring columns raises some concern heading into the fantasy playoffs.
    • Wild's Pominville Contributes Two Assists

News: Jason Pominville collected two assists in Friday's win over Carolina.
Analysis: That's back-to-back multi-point games for Jason Pominville, who has also recorded three goals in his last four games. The 32-year-old now has 15 goals and 46 points in 65 games on the season. He's firing on all cylinders right now, recording 19 shots on goal in his last four games. If you can deal with some dry spells, Pominville is a solid top-six scorer who records strong shots on goal totals.
    • Pominville's Two Goals Lift Wild

News: Jason Pominville scored a pair of goals in the third period Thursday to turn a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 win over the Capitals.
Analysis: Jason Pominville's warmed up significantly over the last three games, having put 17 shots on goal and scored thrice. That's a huge improvement over his seven-game scoreless slump, during which he didn't put more than three shots on goal in any game.
