• Thorburn's Rare Goal Delivers Win For Jets

News: Chris Thorburn scored the only goal of the game -- and his first since Valentine's Day -- in Tuesday's 1-0 win over St. Louis.
Analysis: Chris Thorburn's more known for his physical tendencies than his scoring abilities, but with a relatively modest (by "enforcer" standards) 76 PIM and 125 hits to go with his 14 points on the year, he's only useful in deeper fantasy formats.
  • Jets' Thorburn Picks Up Assist In Win

News: Chris Thorburn was credited with an assist in Sunday's win over the Kings.
Analysis: Chris Thorburn only has 11 points on the season and shouldn't be counted on outside of specialty formats. Much of his value lies in his ability to pick up PIM, which he hasn't been doing with much regularity lately. He's been absent from the penalty box for the last nine games.
  • Jets' Thorburn Productive In Loss

News: Chris Thorburn scored a goal, added an assist, went plus-2 and collected four PIM in Tuesday's loss to the Penguins.
Analysis: Not generally known as an offensive contributor, Chris Thorburn has rather inexplicably lit on fire offensively of late, tallying three goals and an assist in his last four games. For comparison, he had two goals and zero assists in his first 44 games of the season. The reward was 13:34 of ice time Tuesday -- Thorburn's highest mark of the year.
  • Jets' Thorburn Pots Fourth Goal Wednesday

News: Chris Thorburn potted his fourth goal of the season in Wednesday's win over the Blue Jackets.
Analysis: Chris Thorburn now has goals in two of his last three games and is shooting 12.9 percent for the season, the second-best rate of his career. This would be good news for just about any player other than Thorburn, who has attempted just 0.65 shots per game, muting his offensive impact. The bottom-six forward has only five points in 47 games.
  • Jets' Thorburn Scores Goal In Win

News: Chris Thorburn scored his second goal of the season in Tuesday's victory over the Sabres.
Analysis: As his two points in 31 games would suggest, Chris Thorburn isn't someone the Jets are looking to for offense most nights. Instead, he'll carry most of his value as a grinder on the checking line and a leader in the locker room.
  • Jets' Thorburn Re-Signs On Three-Year Deal

News: Chris Thorburn (ankle) has re-signed with the Jets on a three-year contract, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: The deal carries an average annual value of $1.2 million for a player who will likely spend a good portion of the upcoming season skating on the fourth line. Chris Thorburn's 2013-14 campaign ended in March because of a fractured talus in his ankle, but he should have enough time to get healthy for training camp, after scoring just 11 points in 55 games last season. Now that the veteran winger is signed, perhaps the Jets will provide an update on his injury.
  • Jets' Thornburn Out With Fractured Talus

News: Thornburn is out indefinitely with a fractured talus, according to Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun.
Analysis: For those who don't know, the talus is at the lower part of the ankle joint near the top of the foot. Thornburn will have more tests done and a recovery game plan will be made then. The Jets will likely update his condition soon.
  • Jets' Thorburn Leaves Injured Friday

News: Chris Thorburn left Friday's game early in the first period with an undisclosed injury.
Analysis: While the exact nature of the injury remained unknown, Chris Thorburn had just returned from an upper-body injury just a few days prior, so it could just be an aggravation of the same thing. He should be considered day-to-day, but expect the team to update his condition soon.
  • Jets' Thorburn Ready To Return

News: Chris Thorburn (upper body) is healthy enough to return to the lineup.
Analysis: Chris Thorburn has amassed a line of 2/9/11 through 53 games this season, and has also chipped in 65 PIM. He's not the most productive player out there, but he can certainly help team's in leagues where penalty minutes are weighted heavily.
  • Jets' Thorburn Day-To-Day

News: Chris Thorburn's upper body injury is not serious, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Chris Thorburn has registered two goals and nine assists in 53 games to date, and while it's good news that his injury is not serious, there's still no word on his status for Thursday's game against the Kings.
