    News: According to coach Barry Trotz, the Predators sent Tyler Sloan to AHL Milwaukee on Saturday, the Tennessean reports.
    Analysis: Tyler Sloan has made just 99 appearances in the NHL since his rookie campaign with the Capitals in 2008-09, and should only be viewed as organizational depth for the time being.
  • Sloan Signs With Preds

    News: The Preds signed Sloan to a one-year, two-way contract Friday, according to the Tennessean.
    Analysis: At 30 years old, Sloan is more of fringe player, having never played more than 40 games at the NHL level since turning pro in 2002. In the past three seasons with the Capitals, Sloan has just 17 points (4G, 13A) and 50 PIMs in 99 games. Sloan represents more of a depth signing for the Preds in case Francis Bouillon, who is out with a concussion, can't play this upcoming season.

    Analysis: While this doesn't necessarily mean he'll be playing, it's a good sign for him nonetheless. Check back Tuesday if you'd like to confirm his status.

    Analysis: Sloan is a role player for the Capitals, but with so many other blueliners for the team out injured, this could become a real problem for Round 1 of the playoffs. Sloan's injuries makes five on the Washington blue line alone.

    Analysis: He may play in Hershey through the All-Star festivities and get back into shape as he has played in just two games since November 22.

    News: Sloan was on a conditioning stint this past week in Hershey, Washington's AHL affiliate, and was injured again, The Washington Post reports.
    Analysis: Sloan has been battling hip and groin injuries, and it is uncertain if he aggravated one of them while in Hershey. Either way you look at it, that is just one less defenseman available.
