    • Predators Send Sloan To AHL Milwaukee

News: According to coach Barry Trotz, the Predators sent Tyler Sloan to AHL Milwaukee on Saturday, the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Tyler Sloan has made just 99 appearances in the NHL since his rookie campaign with the Capitals in 2008-09, and should only be viewed as organizational depth for the time being.
    • Sloan Signs With Preds

News: The Preds signed Sloan to a one-year, two-way contract Friday, according to the Tennessean.
Analysis: At 30 years old, Sloan is more of fringe player, having never played more than 40 games at the NHL level since turning pro in 2002. In the past three seasons with the Capitals, Sloan has just 17 points (4G, 13A) and 50 PIMs in 99 games. Sloan represents more of a depth signing for the Preds in case Francis Bouillon, who is out with a concussion, can't play this upcoming season.

News: Sloan has been placed on unconditional waivers and will be bought out of his contract, TSN's Bob McKenzie reports.
Analysis: The Caps had no plans to utilize him in 2011-12, so they'll take a moderate salary cap hit and shed some of the salary while enabling Sloan to sign elsewhere as a free agent.

News: The Capitals have placed Sloan on waivers, according to the Washington Post.
Analysis: Sloan is under contract with the Caps for the 2011-12 season at $700,000, but waiving him could be a precursor to a buyout.

Analysis: While this doesn't necessarily mean he'll be playing, it's a good sign for him nonetheless. Check back Tuesday if you'd like to confirm his status.
    • Washington's Sloan Injured

News: Sloan left Saturday's contest late in the second period and did not return. "He's day-to-day," coach Bruce Boudreau said. "He got his bell rung and we'll see how it goes," The Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Sloan is a role player for the Capitals, but with so many other blueliners for the team out injured, this could become a real problem for Round 1 of the playoffs. Sloan's injuries makes five on the Washington blue line alone.
