Kings' Christian Ehrhoff: Cleares waivers Thursday

Ehrhoff will be assigned to AHL Ontario after clearing waiver Thursday, Bob McKenzie of TSN reports. Ehrhoff finds himself in an unfamiliar situation after being a highly sought after acquisition just two seasons ago. However, an injury plagued year in Pittsburgh as well as his poor form with the Kings, a meager 10 points in 40 contests, has lead to the defenseman going unclaimed off the waiver wire. The 33-year-old has not suited up in the AHL since the 2004-05 campaign with the Cleveland Barons.

Kings' Christian Ehrhoff: Placed on waivers

Ehrhoff was placed on waivers by the Kings on Wednesday, Bob McKenzie of TSN reports. In a bit of a surprising move, the Kings have decided to take their chances with the other blueliners on the roster, and will likely lose Ehrhoff on waivers to another club. The veteran blueliner has 11 points through 40 contests this season, but posted a minus-10 rating and hasn't seen as much action of late. Still, many teams are in need of another defenseman, so expect another update when he's claimed, assuming that's the case.

Kings' Christian Ehrhoff: Tacks on two late helpers in blowout win

Ehrhoff notched assists on the Kings' last two goals -- one of them on a power play -- in Tuesday's 9-2 beatdown of the Bruins. Things were well in hand already, but Ehrhoff knows these stats are going to end up on the back of his hockey card, and he's now finally cleared double-digit points for the season. This was actually his first multi-point game in 2015-16, as Ehrhoff generally plays very slim minutes -- just 12:33 in this one, not at all out of line with his recent usage -- and has often served as a healthy scratch recently. In fact, he'd sat out five of the Kings' last eight games.

Kings' Christian Ehrhoff: Gets revenge Saturday

Ehrhoff scored his first goal in 37 games Saturday against Pittsburgh. The former Penguins skater has served as an occasional healthy scratch for the Kings, but games like Saturday figure to boost his confidence (and increase his opportunities). Ehrhoff now has seven points (1G, 6A) in 21 games. After scoring his first five points on the power play, the blueliner's last two points have come at even strength.

Kings' Christian Ehrhoff: Earns assist Saturday

Ehrhoff earned an assist Saturday, setting up the Kings' 3-2 comeback win against Chicago. Ehrhoff has struggled since moving to Los Angeles in the offseason. The defenseman missed four of his last 10 games and has seen his average ice time drop to 16:20, compared to 21:46 last season. In addition to a reduction in ice time, the 33-year-old has a plus-minus of minus-6, second worst on the team. Despite his struggles, however, Ehrhoff is tied with Drew Doughty for the lead on the Kings' blue line in power-play points.

Kings' Christian Ehrhoff: Suits up Monday

Ehrhoff (neck) suited up for Monday's game against the Blackhawks, according to Rich Hammond of the Orange County Register. Ehrhoff left the Kings' last game Saturday with the injury, but he was able to return to action Monday night. After failing to tally a point in the Kings' first five games of the season, Ehrhoff notched three assists in the five games leading up to Monday's contest.

Kings' Christian Ehrhoff: Expected to play Monday

Ehrhoff practiced Sunday and expects to play Monday against Chicago, LA Kings Insider Jon Rosen reports. After dealing with multiple injuries since leaving Vancouver following the 2010-11 season, Ehrhoff has yet to replicate his offensive production as a Canuck. However, with his big shot from the point, Ehrhoff continues to average 2:39 of power play time on ice per game, maintaining the possibility for him to score around 30 points this season.

Kings' Christian Ehrhoff: Exits Saturday's game with injury

Ehrhoff exited Saturday's game against the Predators with an upper-body injury and is not expected to return, Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider reports. Ehrhoff suffered the injury after taking a hard, and somewhat questionable, hit from Nashville's Mike Ribeiro behind the net. The Kings should provide an update on the blueliner's status once they have an opportunity to evaluate him further, but his status for Monday's tilt against the Blackhawks is up in the air at this point in time.

Kings' Christian Ehrhoff: Slow start with the Kings

Ehroff missed all 11 of his shots and has a minus-5 rating to show so far for the Kings since the beginning of the 2015-16 season. During the free agency period in the offseason, Ehroff left Pittsburgh to join the Kings. This change of pace may explain why he's been unproductive this season, but the defenseman is averaging 18 minutes on ice since the start of the season, which is plenty of time to show his worth. However, it's still early and Ehroff is a solid player with potential to improve in the season ahead.

  • Ehrhloff Signs One-Year Deal With Kings

News: Christian Ehrhoff signed a one-year, $1.5 million contract with the Kings on Sunday, Rich Hammond of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: The 33-year-old was very likely hoping to retain a salary close to his $4.5 million figure from last year, so this is likely a disappoint for him. He was limited by injuries last season, but could re-establish value with a solid 2015-16.
