• Returned to the ice Tuesday

News: Jason Spezza grabbed an assist and two shots in Tuesday's preseason loss to the Blues.
Analysis: Jason Spezza was questionable for Tuesday's game and had previously been listed as day-to-day by the team. It sounds like that designation was nothing to worry about, because the team isn't risking the health of their second line center over a preseason game. Nothing to see here. Move along.
  • Spezza Solid In Worlds

News: Jason Spezza led all players in points at the World Championship in the Czech Republic, posting six goals and eight assists in 10 games.
Analysis: Jason Spezza took home a gold medal and no small amount of pride after being a clear leader for Team Canada. His production was incredible and it offers hope for his production next season, with the caveat that Canada was head and shoulders above most of the competition in the tournament.
  • Two Points For Stars' Spezza

News: Jason Spezza picked up two assists in Monday's 5-1 win over the Sharks.
Analysis: The pair of apples gives the first-year Star 61 points on the year, marking the seventh time he's reached the 60-point plateau in his career. He's been effective starring in a second-line scoring role behind studs Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin, despite the fact that his 17 goals are the lowest of his career over a full season.
  • Spezza's Two Points Not Enough In Stars Loss

News: Jason Spezza had a goal and an assist in Dallas' loss to Calgary on Monday.
Analysis: Jason Spezza is on pace to fall under the 20-goal mark for the first time since the 2005-06 season -- a season where he scored 19 goals in 68 games. It's the slowest scoring pace of his career. While Dallas is certainly a better team with the 31-year-old center on the roster, his fantasy value has declined with the move to the Central Division.
  • Stars' Spezza Nets Two Points Saturday

News: Jason Spezza scored his 16th goal of the season and had an assist in Saturday's win over the Blackhawks.
Analysis: A much-needed offensive outburst from Jason Spezza, who had managed just one assist in his last nine games. Since Tyler Seguin has returned, Spezza is no longer playing with Jamie Benn, which could be a potential explanation for his downward trend in production. He remains a strong fantasy option though, as he's skating on the top power-play unit and has managed 55 points in 72 games.
  • Stars' Spezza Records PP Assist Saturday

News: Jason Spezza recorded a power-play assist and attempted five shots on goal in Saturday's 5-4 loss to the Lightning.
Analysis: The return of Tyler Seguin (knee) on Saturday didn't seem to hinder Jason Spezza's production. In fact, Spezza saw 18:39 of ice time, about a minute more than he's averaged this season, and also set up the first of Seguin's two goals on the night. While Spezza will miss out on skating next to Jamie Benn on the first line at even strength, he'll still see enough action with Benn and Seguin on the power play to make him an asset in most formats.
  • Stars' Spezza Scores Twice In Loss

News: Jason Spezza scored a power-play goal and an even-strength marker in Sunday's loss to Minnesota.
Analysis: Jason Spezza's been on fire of late, recording five goals and 12 points in his last eight games. Skating on the top line with Jamie Benn, the 31-year-old has returned to being a must-own in all formats. With 50 points in 60 games, Spezza is going to need to keep producing if the Stars want to keep their playoff hopes alive.
  • Stars' Spezza Has Assist Trick

News: Jason Spezza dished out assists on all three goals of Jamie Benn's hat trick Tuesday in a win over the Blues. He finished plus-2 on the evening.
Analysis: Jason Spezza's seeing an uptick in responsibility with Tyler Seguin injured, and he's responded by maintaining his ongoing hot streak -- he has points in six consecutive games, with an outstanding three goals and seven helpers in that span.
  • Spezza Lone Scorer For Stars In Defeat

News: Jason Spezza was the whole of Dallas' offense Saturday against the Avalanche, bagging a goal on one of his three shot attempts in the 4-1 loss.
Analysis: With Tyler Seguin missing the first game in what is projected to be a 3-to-6-week absence, Jason Spezza was thrust into a featured role for the Stars. He saw 20:15 of ice time in the contest, more than three minutes higher than his average for the season. With three goals and five assists over seven February contests, Spezza's fantasy value was already on the upswing, but it may only rise from here if he sees more consistent action next to Jamie Benn, who assisted on the center's goal Saturday.
  • Stars' Spezza Extends Point Streak To Three Games

News: Jason Spezza had an assist, a minus-1 rating, and two penalty minutes in Tuesday's win over the Bruins.
Analysis: Jason Spezza has points in three straight games, totaling a goal and four assists in that span. However, his inconsistent ice time continues to frustrate owners. In each of the last two games he's logged just over 14 and a half minutes. In the two before that, he was back up around 18-19 minutes after having been down around 14 consistently before those games. His ice time has been a roller coaster and it doesn't look like it's going to stop any time soon.
