Capitals' Brooks Laich: Gets first point of 2016

Laich picked up an assist in Saturday's 3-2 OT win over the Devils. The assist -- his first in 2016 -- couldn't have come at a better time as he helped set up Paul Carey's game-tying goal in the third period. A fixture on the fourth line, Laich has only managed one goal and five points in 48 games this season, and has more value to the Capitals as a defensive specialist than he does in fantasy leagues.

Capitals' Brooks Laich: A healthy scratch Saturday

Laich will be a healthy scratch from the lineup for Saturday's game against the Sabres, Mike Vogel of Monumental Network reports. Laich will be held out of the lineup in favor of Mike Richards, who was signed to a one-year contract last week. While he will likely draw back into the lineup for Sunday's contest against the Rangers, Laich's fantasy value remains extremely limited due to his lack of production (one goal, five points in 43 games) and ice time.

Capitals' Brooks Laich: Gets assist Thursday

Latch assisted on Tom Wilson's goal in Thursday's 3-2 win over Montreal. The assist is only the fifth point in 2015-16 for Laich. Relegated to the fourth line and without any power-play time, Laich will struggle to produce with any consistency and is a reach even in deeper formats.

Capitals' Brooks Laich: Pots first goal in Thursday's win

Laich scored his first goal of the 2015-16 season during Thursday's 4-1 over the Bruins The puck was deflected off Laich's leg into the net, so it was a "garbage goal" in the traditional sense, but the fourth-line forward won't care how it happened. The tally brings his point total to one in 12 games this season, so he's not enough of an offensive force at this point to warrant fantasy consideration.

  • Caps' Laich Gets First Goal Of Playoffs Thursday

News: Brooks Laich scored his first goal of the playoffs during Washington's 5-1 rout of the Islanders in Thursday's Game 5.
Analysis: Brooks Laich's marker early in the third period gave the Caps the breathing room they needed to top the Islanders. Now on the fourth line with Michael Latta and Tom Wilson, Laich has a goal and an assist in five playoff games this season.
  • Caps' Laich On Three-Game Point Streak

News: Brooks Laich recorded a goal in Tuesday's 4-2 win over Carolina, giving him points in three straight games.
Analysis: Brooks Laich scored a nice backhanded goal off an equally nice backhanded pass from Jason Chimera in the third period. The tally gives him a goal and three assists in his last three games. Laich has been productive since being moved the the right wing side of the third line opposite Eric Fehr and Chimera, and while he can't be relied upon to keep a point per game pace for very long, he might be worth a look in deeper leagues as long as he's riding this streak.
  • Caps' Laich Dishes Out Two Helpers

News: Brooks Laich assisted on two goals in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Rangers.
Analysis: Brooks Laich has been enduring a down season almost entirely across the board, but he's increased his production of late as he's now chipped in four assists in the team's last six contests. The 31-year-old's ice time has been consistently decreasing since February as his season average now hovers under 15 minutes per game, so even if he can get on the scoresheet more regularly it may not be enough to warrant attention in most formats.
  • Caps' Laich Set To Play Sunday

News: Brooks Laich (upper body) is in line to suit up Sunday against the Bruins, Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Based on warmups, Brooks Laich is slated to skate on a line with Marcus Johansson and Chris Conner on Sunday.
  • Caps' Laich Day-To-Day

News: Brooks Laich suffered an upper-body injury in Friday's loss to the Stars and was absent from Saturday's practice, Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Brooks Laich has generally held up well on the health front this season compared to the previous two years, but he's still dealt with upper-body injuries on multiple occasions already in 2014-15. The Capitals are considering Laich day-to-day for the moment, but it wouldn't be a surprise if he were forced to miss both games of the Caps' back-to-back set that commences Sunday against the Bruins.
  • Caps' Laich Scores, Ends Drought

News: Brooks Laich netted a goal and three shots in Washington's 6-1 victory over Buffalo on Saturday.
Analysis: The goal marks Brooks Laich's first in 27 games spanning two months, and his first point in the month of March. No longer a fixture in the top-six and power play, to say nothing of no longer being a consistent performer, Laich's fantasy value is confined to all but the deepest of leagues.
