• Appears set to open season in checking role

News: Dustin Brown, who had a career-low 11 goals last season, appears set to open the season on the team's third line.
Analysis: Dustin Brown has seen his power-play production take a nosedive over the last two seasons (two goals, eight assists combined) as the Kings have added some skill to their forward group which has further eroded his fantasy value. He hasn't topped 30 points in either of the last two seasons either, and it looks like he'll be hard-pressed to reach that plateau again this season.
  • Brown Snaps Goal Drought In Kings Win

News: Dustin Brown snapped a 19-game goal drought by netting his 11th goal of the year in an 8-2 win Thursday.
Analysis: Dustin Brown's days of fantasy relevance are largely a thing of the past but he'll look to finish strong as the Kings try to lock up a playoff spot.
  • Kings' Brown Earns Assist

News: Dustin Brown pocketed an assist in Thursday's shootout win over the Canadiens.
Analysis: Jeff Carter was on the receiving end of a give-and-go with Dustin Brown, aiding the latter to his first point in seven games. Brown has been prone to dry spells of this variety this season, having previously experienced a five-point skid and two separate eight-point droughts. From a fantasy perspective, there's not much value to be had any longer in Brown, who isn't likely to reemerge as a 50-point contributor again in his career.
  • Kings' Brown Picks Up Two Helpers

News: Dustin Brown notched a pair of assists in Thursday's 3-2 loss to Florida.
Analysis: His first points in four games, the helpers were not enough to carry the Kings past the Panthers. This is the first multi-point game in nearly a month for Dustin Brown -- once a consistent 50-plus-point man, he's seen his offense dry up dramatically over the last two seasons.
  • Kings' Brown Grabs Goal Wednesday

News: Dustin Brown potted a goal in Wednesday's win over the Sharks.
Analysis: Dustin Brown has seen his offensive involvement increase recently, generating two goals, an assist, and 16 shots on goal over four games. The winger currently slots in on the Kings' top line next to Anze Kopitar and Marian Gaborik, though coach Darryl Sutter's penchant for tinkering with his trios could result Brown in falling from a scoring line at some point in the second half.
  • Assists Coming In For Kings' Brown

News: Dustin Brown pocketed two assists in Thursday's loss to the Rangers.
Analysis: The winger has gathered a helper in all three of his January contests thus far, but remains mired in a long goal drought. He hasn't found the net since his two-goal game back on Dec. 4, and has just six tallies on the season. The lack of diversity in his scoring doesn't make him a particularly attractive fantasy forward at this time, despite the point streak.
  • Kings' Brown Notches Assist Monday

News: Dustin Brown notched an assist in Monday's 2-1 loss to the Flames.
Analysis: Since his three-point showing back on Dec. 5, Dustin Brown has fallen back into a prolonged slump similar to what he experienced in October. He's picked up assists in two of his last three contests, but prior to that he had been held off the scoresheet for eight straight games, producing a minus-6 rating during that stretch. That volatile production makes him a tough forward to count on for fantasy purposes.
  • Three-Point Outburst For Kings' Brown

News: Dustin Brown busted out with two goals on two shots as well as a power-play assist in Thursday's 4-0 win over the Coyotes.
Analysis: After a pair of scoreless games, Dustin Brown got back on the board, but he continues to put up low-end offensive numbers. Once good for 50-plus points every year, Brown saw his offensive production decline sharply last year, and things haven't been much better this year.
  • Kings' Brown Records Two Points

News: Dustin Brown scored a goal and added an assist while firing four shots on goal and skating to a plus-2 in Wednesday's 4-0 win over the Wild.
Analysis: With the Kings having several scoring options up front, the veteran captain only has seven points in 23 games this year, but his 54 shots and 55 hits still give him relevance in many leagues.
  • Kings' Brown Ice Cold To Start Season

News: Dustin Brown has just one point and a minus-4 rating through the Kings' first 12 games.
Analysis: Dustin Brown's point totals have been trending downward for the previous four seasons, and based on the early returns, it certainly looks like that trend will continue again 2014-15. He's actually noticing a substantial increase in ice time (17:19 per game) from last season (15:50), but it's yet to bear any fruit for the 29-year-old. At this stage in his career, Brown carries his most value in the form of high hit and penalty-minute totals.
