  • Ex-NHLer Lapierre Signs With Swedish Club

News: Maxim Lapierre signed a one-year contract Tuesday with MODO of the Swedish Hockey League, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Analysis: After skating in 80 games with the Blues and Penguins last season while scoring two goals and nine assists, Maxim Lapierre was unable to generate much interest from other teams as a fourth-line option in free agency. Rather than having to enter an NHL training camp on a professional tryout offer, Lapierre determined it was in his best interest to take the guaranteed money overseas in attempt to rebuild value. The 30-year-old's deal with MODO contains an option for a second season, allowing him to return to North America next summer if he so chooses.
  • Lapierre Claims Second Point With Penguins

News: Maxim Lapierre recorded an assist in Thursday's 6-4 win over the Oilers.
Analysis: Since joining the Penguins in a late-January trade with the Blues, Maxim Lapierre has produced only two points in 20 games. He's made up for a lack of offensive skills by averaging over three hits a game with the Penguins, but it will be difficult for fantasy players to extract much usefulness from Lapierre beyond that.
  • Lapierre Dealt To Pens

News: Maxim Lapierre was traded to the Penguins on Tuesday in exchange for forward Marcel Goc, TSN's Darren Dreger reports.
Analysis: Maxim Lapierre is the pure fourth-line center the Penguins needed, while Goc had struggled to adapt since arriving in a trade-deadline deal last season. Although Lapierre's no longer piling up the hits as he used to as recently as a couple seasons ago, Lapierre's speed and willingness to mix it up should make him a welcome addition. Just don't expect much offense from the 29-year-old, who has topped the 20-point mark just once in his nine NHL seasons.
  • Blues' Lapierre Gets Rare Point In Victory

News: Maxim Lapierre picked up an assist in Saturday's 3-0 win over the Maple Leafs.
Analysis: It was just Maxim Lapierre's ninth point in 44 games this season. Though Lapierre offered some value in specialty formats in the past for his high hit and PIM totals, he's not even excelling in that capacity anymore. Those looking for help in those categories can probably find better sources than Lapierre on the waiver wire.
  • Blues' Lapierre Scores First Of Season

News: Maxim Lapierre scored his first goal of the season Saturday in a win over Ottawa. He was plus-1 and took three shots on the night.
Analysis: Maxim Lapierre is adding a bit more value of late from his spot on the fourth line with a goal and assist in the past five games. He can help in deep leagues where PIM and hits are helpful.
  • Blues' Lapierre Picks Up Assist

News: Maxim Lapierre notched an assist Thursday in a 4-3 win over Nashville. He was also plus-1 on the night.
Analysis: It was Maxim Lapierre's first point in seven games and just his third point overall. While Lapierre has never been a scorer, he has been relegated to fourth line duty as the Blues have gotten deeper with additions like teammate Jori Lehtera and Paul Stastny down the middle of the ice. Lapierre is averaging fewer than 11 minutes of ice time thus far as a result.
  • Blues' Lapierre To Sit Out Saturday

News: Maxim Lapierre will serve as a healthy scratch Saturday against the Flames,'s Lou Korac reports.
Analysis: After suiting up in Thursday's season opener against the Rangers, Maxim Lapierre will give way to Chris Porter in the Blues' second contest. Other than showing an ability to rack up penalty minutes, Lapierre doesn't have many skills that translate to meaningful fantasy production.
  • Blues' Lapierre Finds Twine Tuesday

News: Maxim Lapierre found the net for his ninth goal of the season in Tuesday's loss to the Capitals.
Analysis: Maxim Lapierre's goal was the Blues' only tally of the game, which has become a familiar refrain with the offense going stagnant over the last few games. St. Louis typically only relies on Lapierre for his hitting acumen as the fourth-line center, with any offense he provides an added bonus.
  • Blues Activate Lapierre

News: Maxim Lapierre (lower body) was activated from injured reserve Thursday.
Analysis: It looks like he'll be in the lineup Thursday against the Rangers, likely as the fourth-line center for the Blues. Maxim Lapierre missed five games due to the injury.
  • Blues' Lapierre May Play Thursday

News: Coach Ken Hitchcock said Maxim Lapierre (lower body) could return to the lineup Thursday vs. the Rangers, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: The team was previously eyeing a weekend return for Maxim Lapierre, and while that will more than likely still be the case, the forward has evidently made enough progress in the last few days to lead Hitchcock to reconsider the return timetable. Lapierre has yet to be activated from IR, but if that changes over the afternoon, it would probably be an indication that he'll be back in the lineup Thursday.
