Blues' Kyle Brodziak: Buries puck in loss

Brodziak picked up a goal - his second of the season - in Saturday night's 4-3 overtime loss to the Red Wings. Brodziak eluded multiple defenders and scooped the puck past Jimmy Howard for his second score of the season. He has just three points in his first campaign with the Blues and really needs to carve out a bigger role as there isn't much of a window for opportunity as someone averaging just 12:14 TOI this season.

    • Brodziak Signs With Blues

News: Kyle Brodziak agreed to a one-year contract with the Blues on Thursday.
Analysis: Kyle Brodziak spent the last six seasons with the Minnesota Wild, but the 31-year old will now head to the Blues. During the 2014-15 season, Brodziak finished with nine goals and 11 assists while playing in 73 games. His fantasy value was limited to just those in deeper fantasy leagues during that span, so we'll have to wait and see if a fresh start in St. Louis is enough to improve his value.
    • Wild's Brodziak Set To Return

News: Kyle Brodziak (upper body) is slated to play Thursday against the Rangers.
Analysis: Kyle Brodziak, who last suited up on March 23, checks back into the Wild lineup with 20 points and 45 PIM in 67 games to date, numbers that limit his fantasy utility to deeper formats. He's in line to center the team's fourth line Thursday, flanked by wingers Ryan Carter and Jordan Schroeder.
    • Wild's Brodziak Cleared To Play

News: Kyle Brodziak (upper body) has been cleared to play, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Although Kyle Brodziak has received medical clearance, it's not entirely certain that he'll be in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rangers. He missed each of the last three games due to some tightness in his upper body.
    • Wild's Brodziak Out Friday

News: Kyle Brodziak (upper body) will not play Friday against the Flames.
Analysis: Coach Mike Yeo has decided to stick with the same lineup Friday that he used Tuesday against the Islanders, meaning that Kyle Brodziak will sit a second straight game due to the injury. It's not clear how far along he is in his recovery from the injury, so he'll retain a day-to-day listing for the time being.
    • Wild's Brodziak Out Tuesday

News: Kyle Brodziak will not play Tuesday against the Islanders due to upper-body tightness.
Analysis: Kyle Brodziak was hurt in a fight in Monday's win over the Maple Leafs, but should be ready to play ahead of Friday's tilt with the Flames. Jordan Schroeder will take his place after being a healthy scratch for eight consecutive games.
    • Wild's Brodziak Picks Up Two Points

News: Kyle Brodziak notched a goal, an assist and a plus-3 rating Thursday in a win over the Predators.
Analysis: Kyle Brodziak had managed all of three points in his prior 17 games, so this qualifies as an outlier. His middling PIM and hit totals give him some value in super-deep leagues, but that's about it.
    • Wild's Brodziak Scores In Win

News: Kyle Brodziak finished with a goal, a plus-1 rating, and five shots in Monday's 5-3 win over the Canucks.
Analysis: The goal ends an eight game slump without a point for Kyle Brodziak. The 30-year-old only has 13 points on the season, and has limited value for fantasy owners except in the deepest of formats.
    • Wild's Broadziak Chips In Two Points

News: Broadziak scored a shorthanded goal, added an assist and went plus-2 in Thursday's 7-0 whipping of the Sabres.
Analysis: A sparkling fantasy line, but not one we can expect to see very often from Kyle Brodziak, who's much more grinder than scorer at this stage in his career.
    • Wild's Brodziak Assists Twice Monday

News: Kyle Brodziak provided two assists in Monday's 3-2 win over the Jets.
Analysis: The checking line center stepped up offensively with Mikael Granlund (wrist) out following surgery, gathering secondary helpers on two of the Wild's three second-period tallies. While Granlund's injury could have a domino effect that results in more minutes being available, Kyle Brodziak probably won't be a direct replacement for Granlund on a scoring line. His fantasy value remains primarily relegated to the deepest of formats.
