    • Ellis Inks Deal With Washington

News: Dan Ellis signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Capitals on Saturday, Alex Prewitt of The Washington Post reports.
Analysis: The 35-year-old will provide Washington with additional goaltender depth at the AHL level, but likely won't get asked to make many NHL starts in 2015-16, as he'll probably slot in as the Caps' fourth string goaltender behind Braden Holtby, Philipp Grubauer, and Justin Peters. However, Dan Ellis was solid when called upon by the Panthers last season, going 4-3-1 with a 2.35 GAA and a .914 save percentage in eight games with Florida.
    • Panthers Reassign Ellis

News: Dan Ellis was reassigned to AHL San Antonio on Thursday.
Analysis: Dan Ellis was called up by the Panthers on March 4 on an emergency basis, so with Al Montoya (groin) finally ready to return from a long-term absence, Ellis will be required to head back to San Antonio. Over his eight appearances with the Panthers, Ellis did well to keep the team competitive, going 4-3-1 with a 2.35 GAA and .914 save percentage.
    • Panthers' Ellis Allows Four In Loss

News: Dan Ellis surrendered four goals on 28 shots in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Canadiens.
Analysis: Dan Ellis filled in on the second game of a back-to-back set, and with the Panthers officially eliminated from the playoff chase with just two contests remaining, it's possible the 34-year-old saw his last action of the season Sunday. He had performed well in limited action, but the four goals and .857 save percentage were both season-worst outputs for Ellis, as he fell to 4-3-1 on the year after being recalled from AHL San Antonio in March.
    • Panthers Start Ellis On Sunday

News: Dan Ellis will start Sunday's game against the Canadiens.
Analysis: Dan Ellis draws Sunday's start for Florida against the Habs, on the heels of Panthers' 4-0 loss to Lightning on Saturday, started by Roberto Luongo. Ellis will take aim Sunday at a Montreal squad that has dropped three straight decisions by a combined tally of 13-9.
    • Panthers' Ellis Likely Starting Sunday

News: Dan Ellis is expected to start Sunday's game against the Canadiens, the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: With Saturday's loss to Tampa Bay killing the Panthers' slim hopes of making the playoffs, Dan Ellis could see an extra start or two over the final week of the season. He's done well with the bit of work he's received this year, putting up a 4-2-1 record, .922 save percentage and 2.11 GAA.
    • Panthers Start Ellis On Sunday

News: Dan Ellis is slated to start Sunday's game against the Senators, George Richards of the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: Per the report, coach Gerard Gallant indicated that Roberto Luongo is a little sore in the wake of Saturday's game against Montreal and will thus give way to Dan Ellis (who last started on March 17) on Sunday.
    • Panthers' Ellis Stops 25 In Win

News: Dan Ellis turned aside 25 of 27 shots in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Senators.
Analysis: Dan Ellis improved to 4-2-1 with the win as he filled in Sunday in the second game of a back-to-back set. The 34-year-old has proved reliable in limited action since being recalled at the beginning of March, posting a .922 save percentage and 2.11 GAA. That said, he likely won't see too many starts down the stretch and could return to AHL San Antonio once Al Montoya comes back from a groin injury.
    • Big Second Period Sinks Ellis, Panthers

News: Dan Ellis gave up three goals on 25 shots Tuesday in a loss to the Canadiens.
Analysis: All the game's scoring happened in the second period, with Dan Ellis giving up three goals in the frame to opposing netminder Dustin Tokarski's two. With two consecutive losses (though he played well against the Rangers on Sunday), Ellis is starting to experience a bit of a course correction after playing surprisingly well in his first few outings for the Panthers this year.
    • Panthers Stick With Ellis On Tuesday

News: Dan Ellis is slated to start Tuesday's game against Montreal, Jameson Olive of FOX Sports Florida reports.
Analysis: Dan Ellis is thus in line to make his sixth straight start for the Panthers, with Roberto Luongo nearing a return, but still day-to-day in advance of Thursday's game against the Red Wings.
    • Panthers' Ellis Solid In Loss

News: Dan Ellis allowed two goals on 34 shots in Sunday's 2-1 loss to the Rangers.
Analysis: It was Dan Ellis' first regulation loss this season, though it was no fault of his own as he was solid in net against the high-powered Rangers offense. With Roberto Luongo nearing a return from injury, Ellis' run of starts may soon be ending, but he makes for a solid option whenever he gets the nod.
