  • Panthers Waive Zanon

News: Greg Zanon was waived by the Panthers on Sunday, Harvey Fialkov of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.
Analysis: The 34-year-old blueliner never had much of a chance at cracking the Panthers' Opening Night roster. Alex Petrovic, Colby Robak and MacKenzie Weegar remain in a battle for the team's seventh defenseman job.
  • Zanon Signs With Panthers

News: Greg Zanon has signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Panthers, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: The 34-year-old blueliner has 493 career NHL games under his belt, but he last saw NHL action in 2012-13 (with the Avs) and represents a depth signing for the Panthers.
  • Avalanche Place Zanon On Unconditional Waivers

News: Greg Zanon was placed on unconditional waivers on Thursday, TSN's Bob McKenzie reports.
Analysis: In 44 games with the Avalanche last season, Greg Zanon managed only six points, and a -16 plus/minus rating. The team will presumably buy out his contract after he clears waivers, leaving him free to sign with another team.
  • Avs' Zanon Back In The Lineup Thursday

News: Greg Zanon will return to the lineup Thursday, Adrian Dater of the Denver Post reports.
Analysis: Greg Zanon will face off against his former team, the Minnesota Wild Thursday. Zanon has little fantasy impact, only recording one assist in 22 games this season.
  • Avs' Zanon A Healthy Scratch Sunday

News: Greg Zanon was a healthy scratch for Sunday's game against the Sharks.
Analysis: With the return of Ryan Wilson to the team's lineup, Greg Zanon was pulled out of the lineup. Zanon has played in 22 games this season, but only has one point. With the Avs' blue line fully healthy once again, Zanon may see a reduced amount of action going forward.
  • Zanon Inks With Avs

News: Greg Zanon has signed a two-year, $4.5 million deal with the Avalanche, reports
Analysis: Greg Zanon is a third-pairing defender who doesn't really deliver in any fantasy category, even the deep ones.
  • Bruins Sit Zanon

News: Greg Zanon was a healthy scratch Thursday against the Sabres, the Boston Globe reports.
Analysis: Mike Mottau, who had been scratched for four straight games prior to Thursday's contest, took Greg Zanon's spot in the lineup. Assuming no further injuries in the meantime, both will be candidates to take a seat once Andrew Ference (day-to-day) returns to action.
  • Zanon Makes Bruins' Debut

News: Greg Zanon saw 14:58 worth of ice time in his Bruins' debut in Thursday's 4-3 overtime win over New Jersey.
Analysis: Greg Zanon isn't going to deliver much offense for the Bruins, but he does look like a good fit for the team with his physical play, which manifested itself with three hits (including a big one on David Clarkson) and three blocked shots Thursday.
  • Bruins' Welcome Zanon To BLue Line Mix

News: Greg Zanon will practice with the Bruins on Wednesday and then most likely be available for Thursday's game against New Jersey, the Boston Globe reports.
Analysis: The newly-acquired Greg Zanon will not play Tuesday against the Senators, but once he settles in with his new team, he'll provide valuable depth to the Bruins' blue line and while he's not likely to make a fantasy splash, he is known as a quality shot-blocker. Zanon has blocked 104 shots in 39 games to date and was second in the NHL in that category last season, with 212.
  • Boston Debut For ZanonWon't Happen Tuesday

News: Greg Zanon will not play against Ottawa on Tuesday, reports.
Analysis: It's not clear how soon Greg Zanon might be up to speed for Boston.
