  • Pock packs bags for Switzerland

Analysis: Pock played in a career-high 59 games with the Islanders in 2008-09. He had eight goals and 17 points in 118 NHL games with the Rangers and Islanders. Pock was never a full-time blueliner and it's not surprising he is headed overseas for his chance to play on a big stage. It's safe to ignore him in Fantasy.
  • Pock returns from hand IR

Analysis: Pock has one goal and two assists in 41 games this season. He has logged just 100 games in his career over five seasons and has 17 points. He has little to no Fantasy value when healthy.

Analysis: Pock is not an enforcer by any stretch of the imagination and has limited Fantasy appeal since he is not a big-time offensive player. Leave him on waivers whether he's injured or not.

Analysis: Pock is not an enforcer by any stretch of the imagination and has limited Fantasy appeal since he is not a big-time offensive player. Leave him on waivers.

Analysis: Pock is not an enforcer by any stretch of the imagination and has limited Fantasy appeal since he is not a big-time offensive player. Leave him on waivers.
  • Pock hit with five-game suspension

News: New York Islanders defenseman Thomas Pock was suspended for five games without pay Friday for elbowing Ottawa forward Ryan Shannon the previous night. Pock was given a major penalty and a game misconduct for elbowing Shannon 15:44 into the third period Thursday night. Shannon, who was making his Senators' debut, had to be helped off the ice to the dressing room. "I understand why there is a need for the league to enforce a strict policy to hits to the head," Pock said in a statement released by the Islanders. "I have reached out to Ryan to apologize and I hope he makes a quick recovery."
Analysis: Pock will be eligible to return Nov. 26 against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Pock had 10 penalty minutes coming into Thursday's game and just 30 in his career. He has never gotten into a fight and received his first game misconduct Thursday. He just made an uncalled hit and was penalized for it. Pock is not an enforcer by any stretch of the imagination and has limited Fantasy appeal since he is not a big-time offensive player.

  • Pock gets a few power-play shifts

News: The Sports Xchange reports D Thomas Pock, obtained by waivers from the Rangers the final week of the preseason, was even over 18:22 in his Islanders debut Saturday against the Blues, including a few shifts on the power play.
Analysis: Pock has been back and forth between the NHL and AHL so far in his career and has minimal Fantasy value at this time. He could be nothing more than roster depth in his career.
  • Pock claimed off waivers by Islanders

News: The Islanders have claimed D Thomas Pock on waivers. He was recently released by the Rangers.
Analysis: Pock has been back and forth between the NHL and AHL so far in his career and has minimal Fantasy value at this time. Ignore him in all drafts.
  • Rangers could use four in rotation

News: The Sports Xchange reports their annual free agency frenzy over, the Rangers are pretty well set from a roster perspective with their season-opening pair of games against Tampa Bay in Prague now less than three months away. However, a couple of questions remain -- one great and one small. The small one: Who will be the seventh defenseman? While Thomas Pock's name might be the most recognizable among the candidates, his salary and the requirement that he pass through waivers to go to or from the minors makes him the least likely to get the job. So figure instead on a rotation of youngsters such as Bobby Sanguinetti, Corey Potter and Michael Sauer.
Analysis: The Rangers rely more on their forwards to get the scoring done than their defenseman. They rather have them play solid defense in front of goalie Henrik Lundqvist. Regardless, they signed Wade Redden in the offseason to boost their blue line scoring. If Pock, Sanguinetti, Potter and Sauer are going to share time in the NHL this season, then they shouldn't be owned in Fantasy leagues.
