Stars' Patrick Eaves: Nets first of season

Eaves scored his first goal of the year in Tuesday's 6-5 win over the Hurricanes. Though he was hampered early-on by injury, Eaves has been slow to get his season going. After a big revival of his offensive production last season, things haven't gone his way. Added forward depth has bumped him down the depth chart and limited his power play time.

Stars' Patrick Eaves: Will return Tuesday

As expected, Eaves (lower body) will rejoin the lineup Tuesday night against the Sabres, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports. Eaves, who's been out since Oct. 13, reportedly will be inserted on the second line with Jason Spezza by Stars bench boss Lindy Ruff, who provided an assessment on the 10th-year winger. "I like Patrick's game," Ruff said. "He's a shooter, so he should fit well with Spezz, he plays a two-way game, he plays the game the right way. He knows where to be. We're going to use him a little bit on special teams, and he is champing at the bit to get back in there." Eaves isn't a regular offensive contributor, but he could have an easier time cracking the scoresheet being center by Spezza who has 13 points in 18 games.

Stars' Patrick Eaves: May play Tuesday

Eaves is practicing on Jason Spezza's line in Monday's practice, according to the Stars' Mark Stepneski. With coach Lindy Ruff saying on Monday that Eaves is "ready to play," Eaves may return to the lineup for the first time since October 13 on Tuesday against the Sabres.

Stars' Patrick Eaves: Ready to play

Eaves has fully recovered from his lower-body injury and is now available to play if called upon, NHL.com's Mark Stepneski reports. Eaves has been held out of action since Oct. 13 with a lower-body ailment, but is now fully healthy and ready to return to game action if and when he is called upon. It remains to be seen if the Stars will opt to disturb the team's chemistry by slotting Eaves back into the lineup, as they have been red hot during his absence, posting an 11-3-0 record since Eaves went down on Oct. 13. Eaves' first opportunity to draw back into Dallas' lineup will come Saturday against Minnesota.

    Stars' Patrick Eaves: Nearing return

Eaves (lower body) is close to rejoining the lineup, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports. Eaves has been sidelined since Oct. 13 with the lower-body issue, but it appears the finish line in his rehab is finally in sight. His next chance to return will come Thursday against the Jets, but it's unclear if he'll be ready that soon or if he still needs some more recovery. Eaves' participation in practice will likely be required before he can return to the lineup, so Thursday's morning skate should provide a bit more clarity on his status for the contest.

Stars' Patrick Eaves: Remains out with lower-body injury

Eaves (lower body) will miss Saturday's game against the Sharks, Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area reports. This is not a total surprise, as Eaves remains on injured reserve with the lower-body ailment that has kept him out of games since sustaining the malady Oct. 13 against Edmonton. The 31-year-old was in line for top-line minutes before the injury occurred, but his natural placement is within the group of bottom-six forwards.

Stars' Patrick Eaves: Could miss a couple weeks

Eaves could miss a "couple weeks" due to a lower-body injury suffered in Tuesday's game against the Oilers. The Stars never clarified the injury holding Eaves out beyond a lower-body issue, but it will unfortunately hold him out an extended period of time. The most likely scenario for the Stars involves bumping Patrick Sharp up to the top line alongside Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin, with Ales Hemsky moving up to the second line.

Stars' Patrick Eaves: Headed to IR with lower body injury

Eaves (lower body) will head to the IR after leaving Tuesday's game with this injury, Mark Stepneski of NHL.com reports. Eaves was moved up to the top line for Tuesday's game, but a lower body injury ruled him out of the game and has forced a move to the IR. He has no points in three games this season with a minus-1 rating. He'll be replaced by Curtis McKenzie from AHL Texas.

Stars' Patrick Eaves: Left Tuesday's game with lower-body injury

Eaves left Tuesday's game with a lower-body injury and will not return. It's unclear exactly what the injury is, as well as the severity, but it was enough to rule him out for the rest of Tuesday's matchup against the Oilers. We'll have to wait until after the game for an update on whether or not this will take him out of Thursday's tilt with the Lightning as well.
