  • Nilsson kept out of season finale

News: Oilers LW Robert Nilsson (undisclosed) did not return to the lineup on Sunday against the Ducks. He missed the final four games of the season.
Analysis: Nilsson's season comes to a close as he produced 11 goals, 27 points and a minus-17 rating in 60 games. He has gotten progressively worse the last few seasons, but with one year left on his contract, Edmonton might have to stick it out with Nilsson in 2010-11. Luckily for Fantasy owners, you can probably leave him on waivers until he gets his act together.
  • Nilsson not back vs. Kings

News: Oilers LW Robert Nilsson (undisclosed) missed a second straight game Saturday against the Kings.
Analysis: Nilsson and his 27 points and a minus-17 aren't exactly being missed in Fantasy lineups at the moment. He remains at best a low-end option in deeper leagues.
  • Nilsson sits out Wednesday

News: Oilers LW Robert Nilsson did not play in Wednesday's game against the Avalanche due to an undisclosed injury.
Analysis: Nilsson has 27 points and a minus-17 this season for the brutal Oilers. He continues to have minimal Fantasy value in just the deepest of leagues.
  • Nilsson out of lineup with injury

News: CHED radio out of Edmonton reports that Oilers LW Robert Nilsson will miss Wednesday's game vs. Colorado with an undisclosed injury.
Analysis: Nilsson has 27 points and a minus-17 this season for the brutal Oilers. He continues to have minimal Fantasy value in just the deepest of leagues.
  • Nilsson continues to light lamp

News: Oilers LW Robert Nilsson scored in a second straight game Tuesday as Edmonton edged the Canucks. Nilsson now has five of his 11 goals this season in March.
Analysis: Nilsson put up 41 points in his first season with the Oilers back in 2007-08, but his offensive game has slipped a little since then. He remains a little too inconsistent to rely on in Fantasy play right now, but a strong finish could improve his sleeper value heading into next season.
  • Nilsson has three goals since break

News: Oilers LW Robert Nilsson scored a goal and tallied an assist during Monday's game against the Blue Jackets. Nilsson tied the game at 1 just under two minutes into the second period as he beat Steve Mason with a wrister. Nilsson has nine goals on the season and three scores since the Olympic break.
Analysis: With nothing much to play for down the stretch, the Oilers are giving extra playing time to some of their younger talent trying to assess their future standing. Even with a strong finish we aren't sure much with save Nilsson, who has really been disappointing the last two seasons. Nilsson is too unreliable to trust in Fantasy.
  • Nilsson back in press box

News: The Sports Xchange reports Oilers LW Robert Nilsson, who never seems to stray very far from the press box, is back in it as he once again is a healthy scratch. He's shown flashes of elite level skill but can't overcome his consistency problems.
Analysis: There was this stretch of games in early December that Nilsson was playing lights out and finally seemed to get the message from the coaching staff that his play needed to improve. Unfortunately, he couldn't sustain. Nilsson is too unreliable to trust in Fantasy.
  • Nilsson nets a pair of helpers

News: Oilers LW Robert Nilsson tallied a pair of assists during Friday's game against the Stars. He has three assists in his last six games, however, Nilsson hasn't scored in eight games.
Analysis: Nilsson really showed some life in the first few weeks of December, but his offensive game has since been in the tank since late December. Nilsson is still getting regular power-play minutes and his recent slump hasn't been all his fault. Edmonton is mired in a pretty nasty losing funk. Still, Nilsson has low-end Fantasy appeal because he isn't a trustworthy option yet.
  • Nilsson has pair of power-play scores

News: Oilers LW Robert Nilsson scored twice during Thursday's game against the Predators. Edmonton started strong, striking first on the power play three minutes when Nilsson chipped a shot off of the goalie Pekka Rinne's arm. Edmonton pulled within within one with five minutes remaining in the second when Nilsson scored his second power-play goal, stealing the puck from Dan Hamhuis at the blue line and then making a diving deke to beat Dan Ellis.
Analysis: Nilsson has three goals and five assists in his last eight games. This is his best stretch of hockey in a long time. Nilsson was basically hanging on by a thread earlier this season and realized he had to pick up the pace when he returned from a concussion in late November or fear getting cut. Nilsson has responded in a big way. If Nilssson keeps this up, he will develop into a nice Fantasy option. For now, he has low-end Fantasy appeal.
  • Nilsson scores in return Thursday

News: Oilers LW Robert Nilsson returned to the lineup on Thursday against the Red Wings after missing 10 games with a concussion. He contributed a goal and plus-2 rating in 10:19 of ice time. Nilsson made it 2-0 with 2:51 left in the first on a flashy play in which he put the puck between defenseman Jonathan Ericsson's legs at the bottom of the left circle, made a move on Jimmy Howard and slid a forehand shot into the net for his second goal.
Analysis: Nilsson now has a point in each of his last two games, but still has only two goals in 13 contests this season. Coach Pat Quinn is trying to get the struggling forward back on track, but Nilsson still has low-end Fantasy appeal until further notice.
