• Looks to put preseason struggles behind him

News: Anze Kopitar finished the preseason with just one assist and three shots on goal in four games for the Kings.
Analysis: The Kings' top unit of Anze Kopitar, Marian Gaborik and newcomer Milan Lucic would probably like to forget the entire preseason as they all had their fair share of struggles. Kopitar failed to score twenty goals in a full season for the first time last year, so look for him to try to get things on track early in 2015-16.
  • Extension Talks Lagging Between Kings, Kopitar

News: Kings GM Dean Lombardi said that Anze Kopitar and the team are "not even in the ballpark" when he was asked if the two parties were close to reaching agreement on a long-term extension, Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider reports.
Analysis: Anze Kopitar, who is entering the final season of a seven-year, $47.6 million pact, has been eligible to sign an extension with the Kings since July 1, but the team's unfavorable cap situation coupled with the star center's justifiably high salary demands have made negotiations difficult. While a deal isn't likely to be finalized in the near future, the Kings are still likely to hammer out a deal with Kopitar before he becomes an unrestricted free agent next summer.
  • Kings' Kopitar Helps Out In Rout

News: Anze Kopitar dished out two assists and went plus-4 in Thursday's 8-2 annihilation of Edmonton.
Analysis: After two straight off the scoresheet, Anze Kopitar got right back at it, and the big plus-minus effort has pushed him just one tick short of being even for the year. Despite those two down games, Kopi's on a good late-season run, having totaled 10 points in his last eight contests.
  • Kopitar's Two Helpers Boost Kings

News: Anze Kopitar pushed his point streak to four games by assisting twice in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Rangers.
Analysis: Despite going plus-2 both Tuesday and Wednesday, he's still minus-1 over that four-game span. Nonetheless, Anze Kopitar has been a consistent source of offense, as usual, despite his goal scoring having fallen off this season.
  • Kings' Kopitar Grabs Three Points In Win

News: Kopiter factored into all of the team's scoring, netting a goal and dishing out two assists in Monday's 3-1 win over the Devils.
Analysis: It's the second three-point outing in the past three weeks for Anze Kopitar, as he's been on fire in the month of March. The 27-year-old has tallied 12 points in his last 10 contests, and is now up to 57 points (15 goals) on the season. The numbers are down almost across the board for the center, but he's still provided enough production to make him a worthwhile play for fantasy purposes.
  • Dominant Effort For Kings' Kopitar

News: Anze Kopitar scored an unassisted goal, helped out on Marian Gaborik's empty-netter and went plus-2 with a trio of takeaways Thursday in a win over Vancouver.
Analysis: A dominant all-around effort for Anze Kopitar, who also won 13 of 23 faceoffs. He's in the midst of one of his more productive periods of the season, with seven points in his last five games pushing him over 50 on the season.
  • Kopitar Leads Kings To Win Tuesday

News: Anze Kopitar was named the game's first star Tuesday after picking up a goal, two assists and a plus-3 rating in a 5-2 win over Edmonton.
Analysis: A sparkling outing for Anze Kopitar, who had managed just two points and a minus-3 rating over the last five games coming in. It's been a disappointing campaign for the winger, as he'll need to score at better than a point-per-game pace the rest of the way to match last year's 70 points, and he has practically no chance to hit 29 goals this year, as he has only 13 to his credit thus far. Still just 27 years old, Kopitar should have years of productivity ahead of him, but it's concerning to see how much less he's shooting this year than in prior seasons. With 19 games left to go in the season, he's got 102 shots on goal -- 98 short of last year's 200.
  • Kings' Kopitar Picks Up 12th Goal

News: Anze Kopitar picked up his 12th goal of the season in Monday's 3-2 win over the Lightning.
Analysis: It's Anze Kopitar's first marker since Jan. 17. After a sluggish opening to the season, Kopitar caught fire from about mid-December to mid-January to recapture the confidence of his fantasy owners, but he's slowed down noticeably since then. Kopitar's seven points over his last 12 games still make it worthwhile for his owners to slot him in the lineup most nights, though it's starting to look likely he'll finish with lower numbers across the board compared to those he posted in 2013-14.
  • Kings' Kopitar Gets Assist In Win

News: Anze Kopitar earned an assist in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Lightning.
Analysis: Though Anze Kopitar has registered assists in two straight games, he's settled into something of a lull since his late December, early January surge. Kopitar's last goal came Jan. 17, and he's produced five assists in eight games since then.
  • Kings' Kopitar Assists Twice In Win

News: Anze Kopitar gathered two assists in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Blackhawks.
Analysis: Anze Kopitar set up Jeff Carter's power-play goal in the second period and Jake Muzzin's game-winner with less than four minutes remaining in the third. The 27-year-old center has been on fire since about mid-December, tallying five goals and 21 assists over his last 18 games.
