Coyotes' Kyle Chipchura: Picks up two points

Chipchura registered a goal and an assist in Monday's win over the Maple Leafs. Chipchura failed to work his way onto the scoresheet in the first four contests of the season, but he's now tallied four points in his last four. The forward doesn't have much value in most fantasy formats though, as he's skating in a bottom-six role and hasn't topped the 20-point plateau any year in his career.

    • Coyotes' Chipchura Picks Up Assist In Loss

News: Kyle Chipchura picked up an assist Tuesday in a 3-2 loss to the Flames. He was plus-2 and added three hits and a blocked shot in the contest.
Analysis: Kyle Chipchura's season qualifies as a disappointment as he will fail to reach the 20-point plateau which he did last year and sits at a brutal minus-22 rating, but that's life in the desert this year. He has seen significantly more ice time with Arizona this year - 13:24 compared to 9:43 last season - as the Coyotes rebuild. As a result he has set career-highs in shots, hits, and PIM. Unfortunately, the influx of young talent that is expected to start next year may relegate Chipchura back to a lesser role or send him out of town.
    • Coyotes' Chipchura Adds Assist

News: Kyle Chipchura assisted on Jordan Szwarz's first-period goal in Thursday's overtime win over the Sabres.
Analysis: As the third-line center for the league's second-worst scoring attack, Kyle Chipchura presents very little in the form of fantasy value. The 29-year-old has 13 points and a minus-22 rating over 63 games this season.
    • Coyotes' Chipchura Gains Assist In Loss

News: Kyle Chipchura earned an assist in Monday's loss to the Avalanche.
Analysis: Kyle Chipchura has three goals on the season and only two points over his last 15 games. He's already passed through waivers unclaimed, so it's clear he's not a valued commodity around the league. Fantasy owners won't be of mind to scoop him up any time soon either.
    • Coyotes' Chipchura Breaks Drought

News: Kyle Chipchura tallied a goal and assist in Saturday's win over the Blue Jackets.
Analysis: The floodgates were open throughout the night against Sergei Bobrovsky, whose uncharacteristic struggles allowed Kyle Chipchura to take advantage. In so doing, the fourth-liner broke a five-game scoring drought, but it's unlikely to portend any sort of breakout. His limited even-strength minutes and absence of a role on the power play will make points an infrequent occurrence.
    • Coyotes' Chipchura Chips In Saturday

News: Kyle Chipchura contributed his second goal of the season in Saturday's loss to the Kings.
Analysis: Waived by the Coyotes earlier this month, Kyle Chipchura ended up sticking around with the team after going unclaimed and continues to see regular duty on the club's fourth line. It's not a role that will yield much production, so the Coyotes will consider it a bonus any time Chipchura provides offense. Fantasy players need not pay him much attention.
    • Coyotes Waive Chipchura

News: Kyle Chipchura was waived by the Coyotes on Friday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Analysis: It's not clear what motivated the Coyotes' decision to waive Kyle Chipchura, as the team already had an existing roster spot open to accommodate the impending return of David Moss (upper body) from injured reserve. Regardless, Chipchura will now be available to claim by any NHL team, though it wouldn't be surprising if he went untouched. The 28-year-old has three points and has gathered 23 PIM in 16 games this season.
    • Coyotes' Chipchura Scores First Of Season

News: Kyle Chipchura scored his first goal of the season Wednesday against Edmonton. He was plus-1 on the night.
Analysis: Kyle Chipchura was a healthy scratch for the Coyotes' first two games of the season, so it's nice to see him get in the action right away in his debut. The 28 year-old remains a bottom-six forward in Arizona, which limits his value to fantasy owners.
    • Coyotes' Chipchura Ejected Friday

News: Kyle Chipchura was ejected Friday for boarding San Jose's Logan Couture during the Coyotes' loss.
Analysis: At this time, Kyle Chipchura is not expected to receive a suspension for the hit, but it was a reckless play for the veteran. He is ready to assume his usual role as a defensive center and role player for the Coyotes this year.
    • Chipchura Scores During Loss Friday

News: Kyle Chipchura scored his fifth goal of the season during the Coyotes' 3-2 shootout loss to the Oilers on Friday.
Analysis: After a painfully quiet season, Kyle Chipchura now has five points in his last seven games and is looking to finish the season in style. The 28-year-old center has just 18 points over 78 games this season and while he's been productive lately, he's definitely not someone on whom to rely this late in the season.
