  • Tough guy Deveaux back with Leafs

    News: The Maple Leafs re-signed forward Andre Deveaux to a one-year contract Tuesday. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
    Analysis: The 25-year-old Deveaux split the 2008-09 season between the Maple Leafs and the Toronto Marlies of the AHL. In 21 games with the Maple Leafs, he collected one assist and 75 penalty minutes. In 38 games with the Marlies, he registered 14 goals and 11 assists, along with 114 penalty minutes. The 6-4, 232-pound forward became the first Bahamian native to play in the NHL when he made his debut on November 27 at Ottawa. Deveaux is merely an enforcer when in the NHL and flier in leagues that reward heavily for PIM.
  • Deveaux returned to AHL

    News: The Sports Xchange reports Maple Leafs RW Andre Deveaux was returned to the AHL Marlies on Friday after filling in one game for RW Nikolai Kulemin. The latter departed the road trip a couple of days early to attend the birth of his first child, a boy named Alexei.
    Analysis: Deveaux has 75 penalty minutes in 21 games this season for Toronto and is just added muscle to the lineup when up in the NHL. He has no Fantasy value at this time, but can be a flier in leagues that reward heavily for PIM when active.
  • Deveaux fights in first game back

    News: Maple Leafs C Andre Deveaux returned to the lineup Tuesday against the Panthers after missing three games with a foot injury. He didn't record a point in 8:05 of ice time, but got into a fight with Jassen Cullimore in the first period.
    Analysis: eveaux hasn't been much of an offensive threat since his recall in late November, but has done well in an enforcer role for the Leafs. He has totaled 62 penalty minutes and is only worth a flier in Fantasy leagues that reward heavily for PIM.
