  • Coyotes' Recall Pogge

News: The Coyotes have recalled Justin Pogge from AHL Portland, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: This news isn't surprising after Mike Smith left Tuesday's game with some form of lower-body injury. While no updates have been given on Smith's condition, Justin Pogge's callup suggests that the team's No. 1 goalie may be unavailable in the near future. Jason LaBarbera will likely receive the bulk of starts in the event of Smith's absence.
  • Coyotes Send Pogge To AHL

News: Phoenix sent Justin Pogge to the AHL on Monday, Coyotes.NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Justin Pogge didn't see the ice for the Coyotes and, given that he has a sub-.900 save percentage in the AHL, it would presumably take dire circumstances at the goalie position for Phoenix to give Pogge an NHL start.
  • Coyotes' Recall Netminder Pogge

News: The Coyotes have recalled Justin Pogge on an emergency basis from the team's AHL affiliate in Portland, the Coyotes' official site reports.
Analysis: No word on what prompted the emergency call-up just yet. Justin Pogge has appeared in seven games with Portland this season with a 3-2-2 record, 3.22 GAA and .891 save percentage.
  • Coyotes' Pogge Happy In The Desert

News: Justin Pogge is just 25 years old but he's already been shuffled between four NHL organizations including the Coyotes, whom he's excited to be with after signing a two-way deal this past July, The Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: Evidently, Justin Pogge understands his role with Jason LaBarbera and Mike Smith expected to be the primary puck-stoppers for the 'Yotes. "They've got two big guys that they're gonna take the one and two spots," Pogge said. "You gotta work for the call-up spot, so that's what I'm trying to do." Pogge is not on the map as it pertains to fantasy hockey since he's destined for more work in the minor leagues and has only appeared in seven NHL games since the Maple Leafs used a third-round pick on him in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
  • 'Yotes Sign Pogge To One-Year Deal

News: Pogge has signed a one-year deal with the Coyotes, reports Sportsnet.ca.
Analysis: It's a two-year deal for the once-promising former world junior 'tender who played in 48 games in the AHL last season, posting a 22-18-4 record, 3.12 GAA and .907 save percentage. He will likely toil as the Desert Dogs' top AHL goalie and see little to no action in the NHL.
  • Canes' Pogge Sent Down to Minors

News: The Hurricanes have sent Pogge down to AHL Charlotte, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: The 24-year-old Pogge should gain valuable experience in the minors while starter Cam Ward and backup Justin Peters handle the goalie duties in the NHL.
  • A. Ward to Ducks for Pogge, pick

News: The Hurricanes have traded D Aaron Ward to the Ducks for G Justin Pogge and a fourth-round pick.
Analysis: Ward will likely finish his career in Anaheim, as he's expected to retire at the end of this season. The veteran will continue to have no Fantasy value. Pogge, a former prospect with the Leafs, has now been traded twice in the last seven months and will likely remain in the AHL for the time being. Continue to ignore him in all leagues as well.
  • Pogge makes way for Toskala

News: The Ducks have reassigned G Justin Pogge to their minor-league affiliate in San Antonio, clearing the way for new goalie Vesa Toskala.
Analysis: Pogge was a solid goaltending prospect for Toronto at one point, but he's yet to make a dent in the bigs. He's only 23 though, so he might still be able to make an NHL impact at some point down the road. Continue to ignore him in all but keeper leagues for the time being.
  • Pogge summoned by Ducks

News: The Ducks have called up G Justin Pogge from the AHL. He will back up Jonas Hiller until new acquisition Vesa Toskala sorts out his immigration issues.
Analysis: Pogge was a solid goaltending prospect for Toronto at one point, but he's yet to make a dent in the big. He's only 23 so, though might still be able to make an NHL impact down the road. Continue to ignore him in all but keeper leagues for the time being.
  • Pogge back in ECHL

News: The Orange County Register reports the Ducks reassigned goalie Justin Pogge to Bakersfield of the ECHL on Monday, indicating Jean-Sebastien Giguere is ready to return from a groin injury as Anaheim opens a four-game road trip.
Analysis: Pogge did not play appear in a game for the Ducks during his stint as backup to Jonas Hiller. He is merely third on the team's depth chart and is nothing more than a long-term Fantasy keeper.
