  • Florida Sends Vernace To Rangers

News: Mike Vernace was traded from the Panthers to the Rangers, along with a 2013 third-round pick, for Wojtek Wolski on Saturday, TSN's Bob McKenzie reports.
Analysis: Mike Vernace has just 44 points in his last 112 AHL appearances, so he's unlikely to make an impact at the NHL level.
  • Lightning Trade Vernace and James Wright

News: The Lightning traded Mike Vernace to Florida according to their official twitter
Analysis: Mike Vernace is part of a 4 person trade in which he and James Wright will go to Florida in exchange for Mike Kostka and Evan Oberg. He has bounced around since being drafted by the Sharks in 2004, landing with the Avalanche, Thrashers, Sharks and Lightning. He played in 10 games last season with the Bolts, picking up one assist.
  • Vernace Heads To Bolts' AHL Affiliate

News: Mike Vernace must clear waivers after being assigned for duty in the AHL on Sunday.
Analysis: We suppose there's always a slim chance that he gets snagged but he's not exactly going to blow the barn doors off any blue line. He saw 10 games in the NHL last season.
  • Botls Re-Sign Vernace To Two-Way Deal

News: The Lightning signed Vernace to a one-year, two-way contract on Monday, according to the St. Petersburg Times.
Analysis: He spent most of last season in the AHL but did see 10 games of NHL action where he nabbed a single assist. He was the second-highest scorer from the blue line for his AHL squad and will likely see most of next season in the same place.
  • Lightning Recall Vernace

News: The Lightning recalled Vernace from AHL Norfolk on Tuesday, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Matt Smaby is out Tuesday, so Vernace will give the Bolts some extra blue-line depth for Tuesday's game against the Flyers.
  • Bolts' Vernace Reassigned to Minors Sunday

News: Vernace was reassigned to Norfolk of the AHL on Sunday, Tampa Bay's official site reports.
Analysis: Vernace spent one day with Tampa Bay before being reassigned. You can expect him to find his way back into the majors at some point this season.
  • Lightning Recall Vernace

News: The Lightning recalled Vernace from the AHL on Saturday, the Tampa Tribune's Erik Erlendsson reports.
Analysis: Vernace has appeared in seven games for the Lightning this season, but has yet to record a point. He has two goals and one assist in nine AHL games this season.
  • Thrashers assign nine to AHL

News: The Atlanta Thrashers have assigned nine players, including forwards Joey Crabb and Jason Krog, to AHL Chicago. Also assigned to Chicago were forwards Spencer Machacek and Tim Stapleton, defensemen Arturs Kulda, Grant Lewis, Paul Postma and Mike Vernace and goaltender Drew McIntyre.
Analysis: Crabb had nine points in 29 games with Atlanta last season. Krog signed with the Thrashers as a free agent after playing in four games with Vancouver last season. Machacek is one of the Thrashers' top prospects, while Kulda, Lewis and Postma are also among Atlanta's top 20 prospects. Still, most of these guys are just organizational depth and have little to no Fantasy value.
  • Vernace inks deal with Thrashers

News: The Thrashers signed free-agent defenseman Mike Vernace to a contract Thursday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Analysis: The 23-year-old Vernance totaled no points and eight penalty minutes in 12 games with the Avalanche in 2008-09. It was his first taste of life in the NHL. Vernance is a developing pro, but he is merely organizational depth and can be ignored in Fantasy.
  • Vernace recalled by Avalanche

News: The Colorado Avalanche have recalled defenseman Michael Vernace from their AHL affiliate, the Lake Erie Monsters.
Analysis: Vernace has played in 65 games for the Monsters this season, tallying 17 points, including 14 assists. Vernace leads Lake Erie defensemen in games played and is tied for second in points. He was the Monsters' top scoring defenseman last season with 29 points in 79 games. He is nothing more than organizational depth and has little to no Fantasy value.
