• Sens Ink Conboy To One-Year, Two-Way Deal

News: Ottawa signed defenseman Conboy to a one-year, two-way contract on Monday reports the club's web site.
Analysis: This is another depth signing for the Binghamton farm team as Conboy will likely spend most of the 2011-12 season playing for the B-Sens.
  • Conboy on re-entry waivers

News: The Hurricanes have placed D Tim Conboy on re-entry waivers.
Analysis: Conboy is just organizational depth for Carolina and can continue to be ignored in all Fantasy formats.
  • Canes call up Peters, send Conboy down

News: The Hurricanes have recalled G Justin Peters from the AHL and sent D Tim Conboy down.
Analysis: Peters' presence is needed in Raleigh because Michael Leighton went down with a lower-body injury on Tuesday night. Peters will back up Manny Legace in Carolina, but could get the odd start here and there. A second-round pick in 2004, Peters isn't any kind of prospect, so continue to ignore him in all Fantasy formats for the time being.
  • Hurricanes put Conboy on waivers

News: The Hurricanes have placed D Tim Conboy on waivers.
Analysis: Conboy has zero points in 10 games this season and has no Fantasy value.
  • Conboy added to Hurricanes roster

News: The Carolina Hurricanes have placed forward Justin Williams on injured reserve with a broken hand. The former first-round draft pick has three goals and seven assists in 32 games. The Hurricanes recalled defenseman Tim Conboy from Albany (AHL).
Analysis: Conboy has been added and removed from the Hurricanes' roster numerous times since 2007-08 and he appears to be just roster depth. Until that changes, he has little to no Fantasy value.
  • Kaberle activated, Conboy sent down

News: The Carolina Hurricanes have activated D Frantisek Kaberle from injured reserve and sent D Tim Conboy back to their AHL affiliate in Albany.
Analysis: Kaberle only missed 10 days with his lower-body injury, and has the ability to contribute in larger Fantasy leagues when healthy. Conboy has no Fantasy value.
  • Hurricanes assign three to AHL

News: The Hurricanes assigned C Joe Jensen, LW Trevor Gillies and D Tim Conboy to Albany (AHL) on Tuesday.
Analysis: These players are nothing more than organizational depth for Carolina and should continue to be ignored in all Fantasy leagues.
  • Canes re-sign Bayda, Brookbank, Conboy

News: Hurricanes LW Ryan Bayda and D Wade Brookbank, both unrestricted free agents, agreed to one-year deals worth $475,000 in 2008-09 with Carolina on Tuesday. Meanwhile, D Tim Conboy, a restricted free agent, signed a two-year contract that this season will pay him $475,000 at the NHL level or $100,000 if he is sent to the minors, and $500,000 at the NHL level in 2009-10.
Analysis: None of these players are worth owning in even the deepest of Fantasy leagues heading into the 2008-09 season.
  • Conboy has been playing some forward

News: The Sports Xchange reports that Hurricanes D Tim Conboy is listed as a defenseman, but he has been playing as a fourth-line forward lately.
Analysis: Positional changes such as this are rare in hockey, and it usually only happens to guys with little Fantasy value, unfortunately. Continue to ignore Conboy unless he suddenly starts contributing.
  • Conboy being used on fourth line

News: The Sports Xchange reports Hurricanes D Tim Conboy has been playing as a fourth-line skater since the return of six healthy defensemen to Carolina's lineup.
Analysis: Conboy picked up two assists Saturday and now has four in seven games with Carolina. He is also at plus-4 and has been a troublemaker with 17 penalty minutes. If he stays with the Hurricanes and keeps producing, he will gain considerable Fantasy value. For now, he remains a low-end Fantasy flier.
