Bobby Abreu
In a way, Bobby Abreu's continued decline seemed almost a given entering the season. His power numbers had decreased each of the last three seasons, and last season he finished with an on-base percentage below .400 (.369) for the first time since 2001. Still, with his 25 stolen bases and 11 home runs in the second half, he gave reason to believe his days as an above-average Fantasy outfielder hadn't completely passed him by.
Flash forward to late June, and his production mirrors that of some waiver-wire pickups in mixed leagues. Really, his downfall had nothing to do with his 4-for-37 (.108) slump entering Monday other than it highlighting his other shortcomings. The slump doesn't account for his Juan Pierre-like .335 on-base percentage, not when he still has a somewhat respectable batting average of .273.
The truth is he just doesn't walk anymore. His 27 free passes so far put him on pace for 57, by far his fewest since his days in Houston. And if you didn't even know he played in Houston, you realize just how long ago we're talking here.

For the past two seasons, Marion Barber has been the best running back in Dallas. And for the past two seasons, Fantasy owners kept asking the same question: Why isn't he starting?
Well, ask no more. The time has come for Barber to be the featured back for the Cowboys. He'll play on every down, and he is line for a breakout year.
Julius Jones has left for Seattle as a free agent, meaning the job belongs to Barber. If he can produce in a full-time role as he did sharing carries with Jones, he could be a dominant Fantasy option.
In 2006, playing on third downs and in short-yardage situations, Barber rushed for 654 yards and 14 touchdowns and caught 23 passes for 196 yards and two touchdowns. Then last year, Barber ran for 975 yards and 10 touchdowns and caught 44 passes for 282 yards and two touchdowns.
Barber finished as the No. 7 Fantasy RB in a standard scoring league last year, but he should rise in the rankings this season. Barber only had 204 carries in 2007, which ranked 21st in the NFL. If he can approach 300 carries and continue his 4.8-yards per carry average, he could be unstoppable.
The Cowboys paid Barber a huge contract extension this offseason, showing they have faith he can be an elite running back. He is expected to lose some carries to rookies Felix Jones and Tashard Choice, but this is Barber's time to shine.
If you've been waiting for Barber to be the starter and have confidence in his skills, draft Barber at the end of the first round in all Fantasy leagues. At worst, Barber should be gone by the middle of the second round.
Barber has the talent to be among the NFL's best running backs. And now he has the opportunity to prove it.
Positives: He's no longer sharing carries on a consistent basis with Jones since he is now in Seattle. Barber will play on every down, meaning he will still get catches and carries in short-yardage situations. He's averaged 14 total touchdowns the past two seasons, which is among the best in the NFL.
Negatives: He's only started three games in his career and never had more than 204 carries in a season, so hopefully his hard running style won't lead to injuries. Jones and Choice will get carries, but it remains to be seen how many they will take away from Barber. The Cowboys still throw the ball a lot, so hopefully Barber won't lose many rushing touchdowns.
Outlook: Barber is going to be a stud this year. He will fall to the end of the first round, but he might have more upside than Clinton Portis, Frank Gore and Larry Johnson based on the offense he plays in and his past performance. If Barber is there starting at No. 7 overall in the first round, think about drafting him in that spot.

| This FFB league is going into their 17th year... |
Wayne Diaz - ORLANDO, FL
How long have you been playing fantasy sports?
17 seasons of fantasy football
Have you always played on CBSSports.com?
No. Before I got our league on Sportsline I did everything by paper and pencil. I had to get the stats from the newspaper. I did a weekly mailout.
Which is your favorite fantasy sport?
Football, Football, Football!!!!
For your favorite fantasy sport, how many leagues do you usually
participate in?
Just 1. I have been the commissioner for 14 seasons. I love our league and have never had a desire to be in any others.
What would you consider to be your best fantasy games experience?
(favorite story, best move, etc.)
I was in our leagues championship game and was losing. My last hope was the Monday night game. I needed 2 defensive scores by the Dallas Cowboys. And I got it!!! The guy I was playing against didn't even watch the game and called me to gloat. Boy was he surprised!!!!
What was your all time best draft pick and why?
I got Jeff Garcia the year after Steve Young retired in the late rounds of the draft. He picked up where Young let off and help me win a championship.
What was your all time worst draft pick and why?
I had the first pick in our draft the year we turned into a keeper league. I took Emmitt Smith a year after his record setting year. I passed on Brett Farve. Emmitt started to decline while Farve led his owner to 3 championships. Rats!
Any winning strategy or advice you would like to share?
The days of running backs ruling are over. Its a passing league and its a running back by committee league. You better have good receivers and a good tight end as well.
What do you like most about CBSSports.com Fantasy Games?
It sure beats paper, pencil and the newspaper.
Feel free to add any other interesting facts/happenings/stories.
Our league is going into its 15th season. We have a huge trophy. Each year the winners name is put on it like the Stanley Cup.
