John Axford loses consecutive save streak, leaves note for media
The Brewers finally outlasted the Cubs in 13 innings, 8-7, Friday night. It wouldn't have had to last nearly that long if John Axford didn't blow a save in the ninth inning. It was Axford's first blown save in a long time. In fact, it broke his string of 49 straight saves, which was approaching a major-league record.
Axford wasn't available to chat with the media after the game, because apparently his eight-months pregnant wife had some ... well, let's just let the Ax Man tell us, via Mike Vassallo's Twitter picture:
