Quote of the Day: Gio Gonzalez on his dog

First, let's not bury the lede: Nationals lefty Gio Gonzalez showed up on Monday with a case of rug burn on his head -- a consequence of playing with his French bulldog named "Hollywood."

Hollywood!

Insofar as the lovely and talented Hollywood is concerned, Gonzalez subsequently admitted to having conflicted feelings toward the hound:

"She gave me a rug burn. I hate her. Then I love her. I look at her face, and I love her again."

Most often, this kind of wrenching turmoil is reserved for one's human children, but with Gonzalez it's Hollywood -- Hollywood! -- who evokes such feelings.

If memory serves, Richard Burton uttered these exact words in this precise sequence about Liz Taylor. As always, love is equal parts fire and water.
