Even when Robert Griffin III isn't playing he's still the league's most popular player -- at least based on jersey sales. RG3's No. 10 has sold more than any other player jersey in a season since the NFL started tracking such metrics six years ago, spokesperson Joanna Hunter told ESPN's Darren Rovell.
While exact numbers aren't known, Griffin passed Brett Favre to move into the No. 1 spot. Favre twice had the top-selling jersey -- with the Jets in 2008 and the Vikings in 2009.
In other jersey news: Peyton Manning's Broncos jersey is now the fourth-highest seller, passing Tony Romo's Cowboys jersey from the 2007 season.
Other fun facts, via Rovell:
* The NFL's fiscal year runs from March 31 to April 1, which means that RG3 has set the record with 3.5 months to go on the fiscal calendar.
* For December, Redskins merchandise sales at Fanatics.com is up 252 percent from a year ago. (To be fair, who's buying Skins gear in December '11? Washington was 4-8 at the beginning of the month before finishing 5-11, and "featured" Rex Grossman and John Beck.)
* And finally, this: "Everything related to Griffin is selling, including the line of socks that adidas started producing for the quarterback after signing him to an endorsement deal," Rovell wrote. "Adidas spokesman Michael Ehrlich says the company has sold out of the socks, which sell at the premium price point of $20 per pair."
No word on how well Kirk Cousins jerseys are selling in Cleveland.
