Report: Boston interested in dealing for pitcher Justin Masterson
The Red Sox have shown interest in dealing for pitcher Justin Masterson, according to Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com.
The Red Sox have made offers for Masterson, but the Indians haven't been satisfied in those deals. Masterson came up through Boston's minor league system before being dealt to the Indians in 2009.
After a breakout year in 2011, Masterson regressed last season. In 206 1/3 innings, he had a 4.93 ERA and a 4.16 FIP. Masterson is arbitration-eligible for two more seasons before he would become a free agent. He made $3.825 million last year, and will likely be due a slight raise.
