Kevin Towers: Diamondbacks not looking to trade for starting pitcher
Diamondbacks general manager Kevin Towers says his team isn't looking to acquire another starter, according to CBSSports.com's Danny Knobler. Previous reports have said the D-backs are interested in trading for a starting pitcher, such as Detroit's Rick Porcello.
According to Towers, the battle for the Diamondbacks' fifth starter spot will come down to young starters Patrick Corbin and Tyler Skaggs (acquired in the Dan Haren trade with the Angels) and Randall Delgado (acquired in the Justin Upton trade).
All three pitched in the majors last season. Corbin, 23, had a 4.54 ERA in 17 starts and five relief appearances for Arizona despite a 3.4 K/BB. Skaggs, 21, allowed six home runs in six starts for Arizona, which led to a 5.83 ERA. Delgado, 22, had a 4.37 ERA with a 1.8 K/BB for Atlanta in 18 appearances (17 starts).
