Mariners agree to deal with catcher Kelly Shoppach

The Mariners have agreed to a deal with catcher Kelly Shoppach, according to CBSSports.com baseball insider Jon Heyman.

Shoppach, 32, and Mariners manager Eric Wedge were with the Indians from 2006 to 2009.

Shoppach split time with the Red Sox and Mets in 2012, hitting .233/.309/.425 with eight home runs in 245 plate appearances. in 2011, as a member of the Rays, he led the majors by throwing out 40.9 percent of potential base-stealers.
