Coach Mike Mularkey is hopeful that Miller will be able to return by the team's regular-season opener at Minnesota on Sept. 9, but no exact timetable had been given as of Thursday afternoon. Miller is the team's second-string TE, and he has 45 career receptions for 470 yards. He has been the primary backup to TE Mercedes Lewis the past three seasons.
Miller's 2011 campaign was cut short in October with a shoulder injury.
Other than Lewis, the Jaguars have two other TEs on the roster who have NFL experience. Zach Potter has appeared in 29 career games and has nine receptions for 77 yards. Colin Cloherty has appeared in seven career games and has five catches for 59 yards.
