A Beverly Hills company is financing and developing a biopic based on the life of Argentinian soccer star Lionel Messi.
The movie -- which is described by the Associated Press as a "Rocky-style film" -- is due to be released in time for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Epic Pictures Group is meeting with writers and directors to create a film based on Messi's biography, Messi: The Inside Story of the Boy Who Became a Legend, by Luca Caioli.
“The goal is to make a powerful and positive film that will leave audiences feeling inspired to go after their dreams no matter how impossible they may seem,” Epic CEO Patrick Ewald told Variety.
Producers plan to trace Messi's life from his humble beginnings as a slight youth in Argentina to his growth and development into one of the greatest soccer players of all time.
Messi, 25, has been named the best player in the world by FIFA in each of the last four years.
