D-II basketball player collapses, dies in rec league game

Bentley University basketball player Joe Glynn collapsed and died while playing in a recreational league game on Monday night, according to the Associated Press.

The cause of death is unknown, but authorities have no reason to believe foul play was involved.

Watertown, Mass., police say Glynn, 19, was pronounced dead at an area hospital around 7:30 p.m. ET Monday. According to the Boston Herald, fellow players said there was no physical contact that caused Glynn to collapse.

As a freshman last season, Glynn averaged 3.3 points and 3.2 rebounds for Bentley. The 6-foot-5 forward played for Cardinal Spellman High School in lived in Abington, Mass. Bentley, an NCAA Division II school, is located in Waltham, Mass.
