Karsyn Elledge, the 12-year-old niece of NASCAR Sprint Cup favorite Dale Earnhardt Jr., is well on her way to picking up the family traditions.

Elledge and her father, Jimmy, unveiled a No. 3 mini sprint kart on Saturday at Sonoma (Calif.) Raceway that Karsyn plans to use in 12 races during her summer break. As you can see in the picture, she's a huge fan of pink, and apparently a huge fan of Sandy Cheeks, the squirrel from the SpongeBob television series.

Her attire is likely a nod to her new sponsor, Nickelodeon, which was announced at Saturday's press conference.

“It's very fun and not just because it's my family thing,” she said to the Associated Press. “It's just interesting and so much fun. I love it.”

Although she could likely receive all the racing tips that one could ever need, her dad says that hasn't been necessary.

“It's been really easy for her from the start,” her dad said to the AP. “She hasn't had to have a lot of guidance or direction. She won the first three races she ever drove, so the fourth was really hard because she lost.”

Karsyn, who has lost just twice in her career, will race along the West Coast this summer.

Thanks to her family connections, she's also had multiple opportunities to talk to her favorite racer, which surprisingly isn't her uncle.

“I'm a very big Danica Patrick fan. She's like my idol,” Karsyn said. “She's a girl and she races, and she shows that girls can do it, too.”
