American swimmer Missy Franklin became the first woman to ever win six gold medals at a single swimming world championships when she did so Sunday in Barcelona.

Franklin took home the gold in the 100 and 200 meter backstroke, the 200 meter freestyle, and as a member of three different relay teams.

The 18-year-old joins Michael Phelps, Mark Spitz, and Kristin Otto as the only competitors to ever bring home six golds at a single Olympics or world championships.
