WATCH: Brazilian soccer team masseur saves goal, runs for his life

By Evan Hilbert |

Here's the scene: A Brazilian fourth division playoff match last week. The score was tied at two apiece, but our hero's club, Aparecidense, held the away goal advantage over Tupi.

Therefore, a 2-2 draw would push Aparecidense through to the quarterfinals.

So Aparecidense's masseur did what any good, loyal masseur would do: He blocked two Tupi shots on goal then escaped with his life, somehow, despite dogged pursuit from the Tupi players.

The crazy thing is, it worked! Aparecidense moved through to the quarterfinals, and Tupi was sent home. Initially, at least.

The Associated Press reported Tuesday that the decision has since been overturned, and Tupi will move through to the quarterfinals and Aparecidense has been eliminated.

In addition, the masseur, Romildo da Silva, has been fined $250 and suspended 24 months.
