A strange thing happened a last month in Miami when, while Real Madrid and Chelsea played a match at Sun Life Stadium, a fan ran onto the field and shared a long hug with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Stranger still, though, is this: Ronaldo has written a letter to the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office asking that charges against the man be dropped.

"I understand your position and the importance of enforcing rules and law," Ronaldo wrote, according to Local 10 in Miami. "However, I respectfully request that you and your office reconsider this decision and dismiss the two criminal charges this young man faces."

The event occurred in August, and the lawyer for 20-year-old Ronald Gjoka said that charges could effect Gjoka's immigration standing, as well as his college enrollment. According to the report, Gjoka, who is Albanian, attends Palm Beach State Community College.

"I regret it," Gjoka said, according to Local 10. "Somebody could have gotten hurt, and I want the charges dropped so I can have a successful future."
