PHOTO: Third-tier Spanish team sports broccoli-inspired jersey

By Mike Singer |

A third tier Spanish football club, La Hoya Lorca of Segunda Division B, designed its away uniforms to reflect a giant head of broccoli.

No, this isn't an Onion article.

The team is based in Murcia (dubbed the “vegetable garden of Spain”) and its veggie-inspired uniforms are a reflection of the town's agricultural roots. Broccoli is one of the area's largest growing exports, and last year's team, sporting a similar jersey, won their division for the first time.

Naturally (get it?), the team brought back the jerseys. Their attire has even earned them the nickname “El Brocoli Mecanico,” also known as The Clockwork Broccoli.
