WATCH: College goalkeeper botches easy save, scores own goal

By Evan Hilbert |

Fairfield goalie Matt Turner just dodged a bullet. Iona's Jordan Scarlett sent an absolute missile into the cross-bar, which would have tied the game at one apiece.

Now all Turner needs to do is collect the richochet and go about his business. And that's where it all goes wrong.

Turner didn't flinch as the initial strike soared past him and into the bar, then he awkwardly leaps to gather the ball. Instead, he totally whiffs, the ball trickles into the goal, and Turner falls to the ground in a heap.

If Turner didn't feel entirely humiliated at that point, the post-goal horn certainly finished the job.

Iona went on to win, 2-1. Ouch.
