Danica Patrick didn't exactly set the world afire in her rookie season on NASCAR's Sprint Cup circuit. Her average finish was 26th, and at the Sprint Cup award's banquet last Friday night, host Jay Mohr had some fun at Patrick's expense.
"Danica, I hope you're not too uncomfortable tonight," Mohr said. "I know you're not used to being this close to the front."
Both Patrick and her boyfriend, fellow driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr., sat glaring at Mohr. Patrick returned the favor later in the evening after she was presented with a fan award.
"I have amazing fans, I'm so fortunate," Patrick said. "I think it's pretty safe to say Jay Mohr is not one of them."
Mohr tried to smooth everything over later in the show.
"Let me set the record straight right now," Mohr said. "Danica Patrick, what you have done for the sport of NASCAR, and what you've done for women's athletics -- I could not be more of a Danica Patrick fan."
