It's more unfortunate than anything, because the uniforms the Colorado Rapids threw together to honor their NASL brethren from 1978 are awful in a somewhat alluring fashion.
But yeah, still awful.
The Rapids team Twitter feed has several more pictures of players decked out in the kit, which harkens back to the Colorado Caribous.
"I was born in April of 1978, so I remember the first Caribous match I went to with my family that same August like it was yesterday," Rapids midfielder Brian Mullan said in the team's tongue-in-cheek release. "It is a true honor to emulate those pioneers of American soccer – whose jerseys emulated the pioneers of the early American west – by wearing this uniform."
Well, Brian, you won't be wearing these uniforms.
