Ed Carpenter repeats as Indy 500 polesitter

For the second time in two years Ed Carpenter won the Indianapolis 500 pole and will start the May 25 race first.

Carpenter beat out James Hinchcliffe in the final lap, and had a four-lap average speed of 231.067 mph.

Hinchcliffe will start second, followed by Will Power. The three racers will be in the first row, with Helio Castroneves, Simon Pagenaud, and and Marco Andretti in the second row.

After winning the pole in 2013, Carpenter placed 10th in the Indianapolis 500. Tony Kanaan won that day.
