Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure, embracing his inner six-year-old, is said to be so upset with the club for not wishing him a proper happy 31st birthday that he's considering leaving the team, according to his agent.

The club tweeted out a reasonable birthday congratulations and gave him a cake, but Toure was “very upset” that the club's owners didn't personally congratulate him on the (evidently) landmark birthday.

“None of them shook his hand on his birthday,” Toure's agent, Dimitri Seluk said to the BBC. “It's really sick.”

The team was reportedly traveling to the United Arab Emirates last week after their Premier League title when Toure felt particularly insulted.

“Of course Yaya is upset about this. It is his birthday and nobody said anything or shook his hand, so he does not feel comfortable,” Seluk said. City is reportedly not taking this threat too seriously as Toure complained about a lack of respect last year, before he was awarded with a new four-year contract.

“The most important thing is a human relationship and maybe this is his opportunity to find that. If City don't respect him, then easy, Yaya will leave.”

In the midst of this firestorm, Toure tweeted early Tuesday morning that it was all simply a misunderstanding. Yes, yes, of course it was.

Toure is expected to suit up for the Ivory Coast at this summer's World Cup, barring a birthday snafu, of course.
