Professionally speaking, both star athletes seem to be doing just fine. Only months after Caroline Wozniacki and Rory McIlroy endured an ugly breakup, both took home titles in their respective sports on Sunday.
As Wozniacki's ex-fiancé staved off challengers to win the British Open and take home his third major, the tennis star was busy winning her first title of the season. She downed Roberta Vinci 6-1, 6-1 in the WTA Istanbul Cup on Sunday, undoubtedly thrilled that she could revel in her own success as opposed to hearing about her former beau's achievements.
Caroline Wozniacki beats Roberta Vinci 6-1 6-1 in the WTA Istanbul Cup final - her first title since her split with @McIlroyRory— BBC Sport (@BBCSport) July 20, 2014
It took Wozniacki, the top seed at the tournament, only 67 minutes to dispatch Vinci and claim her first title of the season. She saved all six break points she was faced with, and she's now won at least one WTA title for seven years running.
The power couple ended their three-year relationship in May (notice the three-year reference in her note) after McIlroy reportedly got cold feet after wedding invitations had already been sent out. He reportedly called it all off over a terse phone call. Needless to say, the world No. 15 hasn't forgotten about it. Only three days ago, Wozniacki, who's 5'10'', took a not-so-subtle swipe at her former diminutive fiancé.
Her Instagram feed read: "Out and about in Istanbul. It's been three years since I have worn heels on a normal day out. #feelsgood #looksgood #shopping #highheels #sun."
Seriously, which reporter has the guts to get a reaction quote from either party? We'll update as necessary.
