Scandal has struck Buckingham Palace ... in horse racing, that is.

The British Horseracing Authority last week announced five horses had tested positive for the banned substance of morphine. Queen Elizabeth's horse Estimate was one of them, Buckingham Palace confirmed on Tuesday.

In defense of the test, the Queen's officials are saying the problem was the food, nothing that they did. From the Associated Press:

On Tuesday, the queen's bloodstock and racing adviser, John Warren, said that the monarch's five-year-old filly Estimate was one of the five.

Buckingham Palace said that early indications suggest that Estimate consumed the substance as a result of contaminated feed.

Warren said in a statement that Estimate's trainer Michael Stoute "is working closely with the feed company involved to discover how the product may have become contaminated prior to delivery to his stables."

The horse, Estimate, won the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot in 2013, one of the more pretigious races in Britain. Estimate nearly won the race again this year, placing behind Leading Light.

An avid horse racing fan, the Queen will surely be hoping this one blows over with no more issue.
