By Evan Hilbert |

The United States Olympic Committee and representatives from four US cities will meet Friday to engage in preliminary discussions about hosting the 2024 Summer Olympics.

Officials from San Francisco, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, and Boston will meet with the USOC to discuss the details regarding finaces and other issues involved in bidding for and hosting the games.

"We want to give them the opportunity to understand a little more about the USOC and the programs we have in place," USOC CEO Scott Blackmun told the Associated Press.

According to the report, the USOC will decide early next year if they will bid for the '24 Olympics. Other cities said to be involved are Rome, Paris, Doha (Qatar), and Istanbul.

The games will be awarded to the host city in 2017.
