Penalty kicks are inherently dramatic, but PFC Ludogorets won their Champions League shootout on Wednesday taking a less conventional route – with a defender in the net.
With no substitutes left, defender Cosmin Moti volunteered to jump in net after Ludogorets' goalie picked up an extra-time red card. Wearing the backup's uniform and gloves, he nonchalantly banged home his side's first PK attempt … and then went on to stuff two attempts from Romanian champions Steaua Bucharest as his team ultimately won the shootout 6-5. As you can see above, they werent your garden-variety saves, either.
Here's Moti's goal:
One more time, here's his final dramatic save.
His stops sent Ludogorets into the group stage of the Champions League for the first time. What's more, by making the group stage, Moti earned his side a cool $10 million.
