Jon Jones injures leg; bout with Daniel Cormier postponed
The fight will now take place at UFC 182 in January.
There has been a pretty intense build-up to the Jon Jones-Daniel Cormier light heavyweight title bout that was scheduled for Sept. 27 at UFC 178.
Turns out we're going to have to wait a few more months.
Jones suffered a leg injury Monday at training, and the UFC has officially announced that the title bout will be postponed until Jan. 3 in Las Vegas at UFC 182.
Cormier didn't hide his displeasure when speaking with MMAFighting.com.
"It's very disappointing," Cormier told the website. "I started to train very hard. It's a little discouraging, but now I have time to get completely healthy. I don't know how hurt Jon is but we have to remember that I took this fight with a pre-existing injury. I could have fought through it, I just wish he would have done the same."
According to multiple reports, Jones suffered a torn meniscus and sprained ankle but is not expected to undergo surgery.
