Mo'ne ball: LLWS star's autograph going for $500 on eBay
Mo'ne Davis's autographed is being hawked all over the internet.
As much as you didn't want to believe it, you knew it was going to come to this.
Mo'ne Davis's unprecedented fame – she’s the first little league player ever to grace the cover of Sports Illustrated – has inevitably revealed the ugly side of becoming a sports celebrity. One of the many Mo’ne autographs littering eBay is going for more than $500. Think about that.
When adults approach her for an autograph when she’s by herself, “it kind of creeps me out a little bit,” she told The New York Times. As well it should. She’s 13 and is supposed to be enjoying her time dominating boys. Instead she’s having to fend off autograph hounds.
Mo’ne’s first national stage masterpiece came in the Mid-Atlantic regional championship when she tossed a three-hit shutout to vault her Philadelphia team to the Little League World Series. Next the 13-year-old threw another shutout against Nashville, this time conceding just two hits and striking out eight.
She’s become a national sensation, not only because she became the first female pitcher in LLWS history to toss a shutout, but also because her pitches are, um, filthy.
Let’s back off and enjoy this run. She’s pitching tonight for the Taney Dragons, just one win away from the U.S. championship game. Go watch her.
