Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn suffers partially torn right ACL
Lindsey Vonn sustained a partially torn right ACL as a result of yesterday's fall. It's the same knee which she has reconstructive surgery on this past February.
Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn suffered a partially torn right ACL following a fall on Tuesday, according to the Washington Post. It’s the same knee that she injured in February when she tore her ACL and MCL and broke her tibia.
Vonn suffered “a mild strain to her right knee, a partial tear to her right ACL, minor facial abrasions and scapular contusions from her fall,” her publicist relayed to reporters. She was taken off the mountain by sled yesterday and checked out by Dr. Bill Sterett, the same doctor who treated her earlier this year.
Vonn, who was trying to recover from reconstructive surgery following February’s accident, will rest for a few days and then begin intense physical therapy. She has no idea when she’ll be able to compete again, according to her publicist.
Her injury at Copper Mountain in Colorado jeopardizes her chances at competing in next year’s Sochi Olympics, which begin in February.
