PHOTO: Navy swim team recreates Iwo Jima flag raising underwater
The Naval Academy's men's swim team recreated the famous Iwo Jima flag raising photograph while underwater.
During the Battle of Iwo Jima in World War II, several United States Marines and members of the U.S. Navy raised the American flag as Associated Press photographer Joe Rosenthal captured the iconic image.
Members of Navy's men's swimming and diving team recreated that image while underwater on Wednesday, and the Naval Academy shared this incredible photo on Twitter.
The original photo won a Pulitzer Prize for Photography in 1945.
