WATCH: Zlatan Ibrahimovic's bicycle kick wins FIFA goal of the year
Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored four goals in a friendly victory over England, but it was his final, jaw-dropping boot that netted him FIFA's goal of the year award.
Along with FIFA’s announcement of Cristiano Ronaldo as the Ballon d’Or winner, the sport’s governing body also announced its goal of the year on Monday.
And unlike the player of the year contest (Lionel Messi won the last four years), the goal of the year was nearly indisputable.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored four goals in a 4-2 friendly victory over England, but it was his last goal, which came during stoppage time, that ultimately earned him the 2013 Puskas Award for Goal of the Year.
Ibrahimovic took a volley off England’s goalie and was well outside the box when he attempted this ridiculous bicycle kick.
As former MLS soccer player Jimmy Conrad tweeted:
If the mighty Zlatan doesn't win the Goal of the Year with his overhead display of brilliance against England, I'm quitting the internet.— Jimmy Conrad (@JimmyConrad) January 13, 2014
Fortunately, Conrad doesn't have to go to any extreme measures.
