Sep. 5--Derek Hagan views himself as the leader of the Dolphins' young receiver unit, but that distinction took a big hit this week when he was demoted during the team's first day of preparing for Sunday's home opener against the Jets.
Although Hagan held the top spot on the depth chart throughout preseason, Greg Camarillo began working with the first team in Hagan's place.
Still, coach Tony Sparano said he hasn't decided on a starter to play opposite Ted Ginn Jr.
"We got another day at practice," Sparano said. "They both looked really good out there [Thursday] in practice."
Camarillo caught six passes for 58 yards, while Hagan caught four passes for 40 yards as a starter.
But Hagan, who contributed 29 receptions for 373 yards and two touchdowns last season, also dropped two catchable balls against the Saints in the final exhibition game.
Double time for Ginn Even though Ginn has established himself as a starting receiver, there has been no discussion about lessening his role as the team's return specialist.
Ginn admitted he'd rather keep his special teams work, despite his increased workload.
"I've done it my whole career," Ginn said. "They know what I can do."
